I can see the map, too. Zoom out, and you'll understand.

Now, it's close to Baja California, of course. Not very close to the state of California in the USA, though. No closer than it is to Texas. In fact, this earthquake is as irrelevant to California and Arizona as it is to Texas.

That's an earthquake in Mexico. It's 505 miles from Phoenix, for pete's sake.

And it's California, not "Cali." Nobody who is actually from California calls it "Cali." Teenage girls in Minnesota call it "Cali."

and it looks like this 'quake was in point of fact a little bit closer to Texas than it was to California.

But I'm pretty sure Villa Juarez (the place referenced in the description) and Ciudad Juarez (the border town) are two different places.

We are on somewhat, relatively speaking new rock.

And it is breaking all the time. As I keep saying substrate matters at how far it carries and damage.
I live on a wonderful sandy ground, where a relatively shallow quake will do a lot more damage than the same quake where my mom lives, in Mexico City, which is old basalt.
 
It is a fascinating science what and why quakes do what they do.

Her resume needs to include "seismologist" and "geologist".

Is there no limit to the breadth of her knowledge?

I just thought of something- both nads and Amber reported feeling seismic activity.  

I'll bet Amber a ham sandwich that both her and nads were only feeling the effects of their own girth causing the earth below them to quiver.

One must tread lightly to avoid inciting panic when one is lugging around that kind of tonnage.

My question is why Nads family are still in Mexico.        She has the ability to bring them here to  the land she has lived in for 30 year's+.

Why would a family want to live in Mexico when their child can get them into a country that people brave shark infested waters to paddle 90 miles to get here ?

What benefit does Nads family get to live in Mexico, gives me reason to pause and wonder WTF.

nadin grew up among the 1% of Mexico, meaning her mother has the means to travel to this country any time she wishes (for medical care and all that).

It would be interesting if someone would have thought to keep track of what she has actually been correct about since we first discovered her. A sheet of paper a tenth of the size of a business card should be enough for the list and still leave plenty of room to do some doodling.

I've heard people call San Francisco Frisco but I've never heard anyone call California Cali in conversation.

Folk that hate L.A. call everything from Trancas Beach to Eureka the "Gold Coast."  The extremists include Zuma/Pt. Dume in that designation.

Being a typical Los Angeleno, I moved 10+ times in 40 years but always in the confines of L.A.  Broad North to Malibu, Hard North to Azusa, East to Mira Loma/San Berdu, East to West Covina/La Puente.

She may see that as a side benefit, but nadin was really worried about the sudden prominence of threads about Doug Bulna and Amber Hoyt.

She had to put them in their place, well behind her in DOTY qualifications.
