Thank you, President Obama for just saying no to the Tea Party extortionists. You can't negotiate with extremists who hold America hostage in a brazen attempt to nullify two presidential elections. This victory is sweet. Judson Phillips, owner of Tea Party Nation just melted down.

Barack Obama demanded unconditional surrender from the Republican Party.

He pretty much got it.

The Republican Party has capitulated on the central issue of Obamacare. Mitch McConnell and John Boehner never wanted this fight. In true RINO fashion, they wanted to surrender early and often. ....

In short, the GOP got nothing from their fight. But then again, McConnell, Boehner and the GOP establishment never tried.

With the implosion of the Obamacare roll out, they had the perfect opportunity. The GOP should have been parading real Americans in front of the cameras every day to talk about how they have lost health insurance coverage thanks to Obamacare or how they cannot find full time work thanks to Obamacare.

What did the GOP?

It caved totally and completely. And the GOP leadership does not care.

The government shutdown is pushed back until January and the debt ceiling until February.

Does anyone believe either McConnell or Boehner will have the intestinal fortitude to go to the mat with Obama again? It does not matter what Obama demands, these two will cave, guaranteeing it will pass.

I have been a Republican since I was 13 years old in 1972, putting out yard signs for Richard Nixon.

Don’t call me a Republican today. It is an insult and it just might be fighting words.

Mr. Phillips, The Republican party just threw you overboard ass over teakettle. Bye bye.

Listen, pal. Let me explain something to you. What the Tea Party has
done is spawned some of the great Americans who are speaking truth to
the masses. People like Sarah Palin. Go read her Facebook updates and
try to tell me with a straight face that she isn't winning hearts and
minds. She has millions of followers who look to her to articulate a
vision and provide clarity to a movement. This movement is going
places. Once we clear out the driftwood in the House and bring in more
people who share this vision, the old, dead, RINO GOP guard will be
gone. It may take time, but the winning of elections is coming. Mark my words

If we can convince more Republicans follow this advice then 2014 will be a year of rainbows and magic ponies for me and my fellow Democrats.

<...>

Here's another comment from the same poster that also helps further explain their thinking:

 wexwuther

Kentucky can go to hell in a handbasket. The people there are flocking to the ACA. We should bring to this fight the discipline of the union workers who hold firm on their strikes and suffer on principle. There can be no worse patriotic move right now than to sign up for Obamacare just to save a few hundred bucks a month. It will end up costing America much more than that.

Takes a minute to truly unpack that one. Everyone who might save money using Obamacare is unpatriotic, destroying America and deserves to rot in Hell for all eternity. Almost wish this was some kind of a liberal plant but the problem is I've met people who think just like this. From the polling it appears the country is finally waking up to the ugly truth of it.

8. Folks, this isn't over. We only have a reprieve until January. If the Republican failure today shows

us anything is that they probably have nothing to lose in January. They will just have to frame their lies better and be prepared to have their bought and paid for news sources crank up the propaganda machine. There will be political landmines and traps waiting for that sound bite from Obama or democratic congressperson to throw out of context and advertise fifty times per day. We can't kid ourselves, this is just the first of many fights Their sole goal for January will be to create a similar or worse situation and get Obama and/or Dems blamed for it. Don't kid yourself. The only way to overcome this level of stupidity is to get the Dems blamed for the same thing Unlike the official Republican party, the tea party doesn't have much to lose anymore. If the tea party gets a bad name, they'll reinvent themselves. Same ideas, same people, different name Remember the tea party isn't an actual political party. They can pop up again tomorrow.
Yeah and the Dems were also for kicking the can. So, I suggest you,

I think this is what was needed to happen.
The conservatives needed to see that their own party could not be trusted. That Establishment republicans wanted their votes but not their input or ideas.
--to see your own party fold like a tortilla and do whatever the liberals want is just what is needed.

Conservatives needed to know they cannot trust republicans simply because they are not democrats. Voting GOP is no guarantee that you will avoid the rat agenda.

this will make either a third party far more viable, or make the takeover of GOP party that much easier.

There is a witching hour on the horizon,it is Jan 1st.

That is the day when everyone has to face the reality of what barrycare has done to the health insurance and health care market.
Right now all the non information voters have no clue but that is the day their current polices very likely end to be replaced by just or more expensive "bronze" compliant, worthless ones.

I’m watching the spectacle occurring on the Senate floor. They have passed the 60 vote threshold for ending cloture. I want the American people to understand that tonight the Constitutional Republic we know as America has suffered a horrible defeat. Obamacare is not the law of the land. It is an edict handed down by a tyrant, not a President. The US Senate has just voted to affirm a new precedent that the executive branch can amend law without Congressional approval, and Congress allows it. The waivers, exemptions, and delays implemented by President Obama have delineated a separation, not of powers, but between the political elite and their cronies - and you, my fellow Americans. This is reprehensible, and we can expect even more bad behavior from a President that continues to spit on our Constitution and in our eyes...and smile. The incessant government spending continues with no solution for economic growth. Anyone voting for this tonight owes some explaining to Americans….but maybe not. As Obama stated, “I won.”

I wish I could just slap some sense in to all the politicians that voted for this crap. And diesel driver is right in a few weeks will will go through this all over again, with the same results.
A liberal who is mugged by reality becomes conservative.

The ugly truth is that default was not a serious option, and ultimately rolling on a vote for raising the debt ceiling was inevitable, and also inevitable that enough Republicans to pass it would have to vote for it.

Solidly Right voters that would actually support such a radical action are definitely a minority, and not just by a whisker, so there is ultimately no way that position could carry enough votes to win.  Fighting it down to the wire before the final confrontation with reality is the best we could have expected, and the House GOP did deliver on that.

Yeah, Obamacare is still around, but I have thought all along that it will prove to be the Dems' own worst enemy when the personal pricetag sinks in with the low-info voters who support it.  The only thing the Dems 'Won' in this is that Obamacare is still alive, but saving it will be like stealing an anvil and trying to swim away with it.

Yep...Still, the point is, you don't win a war by fighting every battle to the last man.  If the Colonists had fought the Revolution that way, from Bunker Hill onward, we'd all be sticking "U" in every word that ends with "Or," and thanking the Crown for its kind and forbearing governance.

The party in power and the elites in both parties think they'll be in control forever. If they had any ability to sense the mood of the country, they'd be petrified. We're a nation that self-corrects. Only 13% of the people think the country is headed in the right direction. The lowest during the Bush administration was 17%. It's the president who sets the tone, the agenda and the direction. 0bamacare is one of the biggest mistakes they've made. Even people on the left are mad about losing coverage they liked and could afford. Doesn't matter how many times the DUmmies try to tell people they now have better insurance, everyone knows it's bullshit. Even the Bronze plans have unaffordable premiums, high deductibles and higher copays. This is NOT better. Only true, blind sycophants can't figure this out. People are livid.

The direction this country is headed is left. Almost 90% think it's gone way too far. Just watch what happens. Cruz, Lee and the others who bucked the system may have low poll numbers. But they also showed they weren't afraid to stand up against the president, the media and their own party. Reagan had low poll numbers for a good while too. Look how that turned out.
