The next time you hear someone say the gov should be run like a business

or a household budget, guffaw loudly. Ridicule liberally. The party of business has shown the nation that the only business the understand is racketeerinflg and extortion. They also have demonstrated an abysmal lack of knowledge of what most Americans' household budget looks like. For those who support them but are not millionaires or billionaires, express your amazement at how they could hand the nation's economic future over to thieves and criminals. The Mafia at least has a code of honor, twistted as it is.

Moronic post, and brand new.  I suspect Skidmore is a day drunk with this original post.

Skidmore, why don't you come on over here and explain why that comparison doesn't work for the government.  It seems that creating a budget should be fairly easy.  Start by listing out all expenses and debts and how much they cost per month.  Find the most essential and prioritize them in the budget. Then, prioritize paying the debt, and when divide what is left in the budget between the non essential budgetary items.  Find places to reduce expenses.  I actually think creating a budget is kind of fun, and I would love to be able to help the government find places to cut expenses.

Maybe we could make Dave Ramsey required reading for every government official, and required reading for anybody who accepts government assistance.

That happened about 5 years ago.

Like firing under-performing employees?

Making a reasonable budget, and living within that budget (the US hasn't had a budget approved in several years - just 'continuing resolutions'.)

Not giving away assets to competitors (foreign aid to countries that don't like us, import/export advantages to countries that don't like us, jobs to infiltrators from countries that don't like us in the form of 'undocumented workers')

I'd go for it to be run more like a business, a successful business.
This too shall pass.

Too stupid.  No comment.

The next time you hear someone say the government should be run on hope and change, don't listen to them--because they are stupid.

If this current administration were a business, it would have been necessary to close the doors and liquidate a long time ago.  No business could stay afloat this long without any sort of budget.

Who is the party that gave us a healthcare plan that costs $10,000 in premiums and another $10,000 in deductibles before insurance kicks in?  For a family maybe making $40,000?

That happened about 5 years ago.

Actually, that started in the 30's, took a magnitude leap in the 60's, was somewhat constrained in the 80's and GOP controlled Congress 90's, but picked up steam with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac creating the first round of takers. The Bush tax cuts only delayed the inevitable once the Dems took over in 2006, and the magnitude took another hit. Finally, the Zero was elected, and with Obamacare the transformation is nearly complete. Illegal immigration "reform" will complete the transformation and kill the country as we know it.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Government is being run like a business.....A DUMMIE BUSINESS....and it's beyond broke.

Ok let me put it in simple terms even you dummies can understand.

You get $200.00 a month on your EBT card. To get cash, you have to take a loss of a $100.00. So that leaves you with $100.00 to buy weed. Now that just ain't enough weed for you so you convince the dealer to front you another $100.00 of weed and you promise to pay him $120.00 for it at a later time. The later time rolls around and you ain't got the $120.00 so you pay him $20.00 now and he lets you slide for the $100.00 if you pay him another $120.00 at a later time. Problem is, now you only got $80.00 to buy some weed so he fronts you $120.00 worth of weed to be paid for at a later time for $140.00 because the dealer knows you have always paid him.

Now you keep on doing this month after month, year after year, decade after decade. Well the day will roll around that all your EBT cash is going just to pay the interest payments and you have $0.00 to buy weed. The dealer then refuses to front you any weed until he gets all his money back.

Horror!!! Well dummie... your EBT cash stays at $100.00, so you will have to get a job to make some money to pay off your debt so you can buy more weed. Oh the horror!!! Then since you are working, your EBT benefits drop to $100.00 so you are now only getting $50.00 in cash.

OK now listen closely dummies... the job is taxes, the EBT is the economy, the $100.00 bucks you pay to get the $100.00 in cash is government waste, the dealer is China and you are the US Federal Government. See how it works now?

I call it Econ for dummies.

You are welcome.
