Yeah, let's see that happen.  And good luck getting Walmart or Xerox to cover it.

Scoobie (kinda) jokes that we're on the verge of a zombie apocalypse.  Shows like The Walking Dead are wildly popular, perhaps even beyond their excellent writing and acting (hey, I'm a fan, what can I say?).  Then I see crap like this and think, no, it's already here.

And like the brain-eating zombies, the real ones are slowly assuming control, and only adding to their numbers.  At some point the whole system HAS to collapse.  Then, to quote Doc Brown, "You're gonna see some serious shit."

LA has had some experience with this... remember the looters after Katrina?

I agree they did it for the safety of their employees.  The crowd was probably already getting hostile over the system being down.

Given the, not so sparse evidence to date, I would say that is an ironclad certainty.  Thankfully, fReEsH!tArMy will be either already dead or long since distracted by other shiny things long before they get to me.  I feel sorry for the right thinking brethren stuck in the urban cesspools, but you roll the dice and takes your chances.

I think we could see more problems with EBT and one could be nationwide. I am surprised we have not heard more of these problems considering they are part of a computer network.

Non-DU related question:

Does Walmart have to honor the EBT card if it goes over a certain limit? I've seen posts (by non-primitives) that give some fault to Walmart for honoring the card, but I was wondering if they had a legal obligation to do so in the first place, no matter the limit?

Walmart has to pick up the tab because they allowed this to go on and didn't follow guidelines in case of a glitch.

I would think they could just keep entering the card number until they got all their money back and as long as the account number was still good.

I can't imagine that they didn't have the customers sign something to that affect.
