An explanation at last (on being an ACA loser...)


I have posted here ad nauseum about my rates going up under ACA (premiums + deductibles). I have received mostly resistance and/or disbelief.

This article in huffpo this morning lays it out.

For those making an annual salary between 300 and 400 percent of the federal poverty level (which is $11,200), federal subsidies will be limited.

For that small percentage of Americans, some key questions emerge. Will the angry cries of those whose rates go up drown out the joyful shouts of those whose rates go down or who never had insurance in the first place? Will they see their premiums as affordable, even without the subsidies offered to poorer people or those whose coverage is more expensive? Will they decide that health insurance is important enough to pay for, even if it costs hundreds or thousands of dollars a year, or will they reject the new market and opt to pay the individual mandate penalty?

These are arguably the biggest unknowns and could determine whether Obamacare is ultimately beset by the enrollment issue described above, and whether it builds enough public support to be politically sustainable.

This is what's killing me about this whole thing--healthcare is a COMMODITY.  A finite, limited supply exists.  If you throw 30-40 million more people into the system, many of whom either had existing conditions or live lifestyles where they'll tend to use/need more of that commodity,

The DUmmies never will be able to respond to these facts, because they don't have the ability of critical thinking. All they have the ability to do is critical feeling, as in "I feel it is unfair that this person should have insurance (or any other good, really) and that person doesn't". They don't have the ability to think through that in order to GIVE something to one person, you must TAKE from another.
In the case of Obamacare, they are GIVING free or subsidized insurance to some by TAKING money, in the form of increased premiums, from those who were already struggling to provide for their own. Also, Obamacare GIVES healthcare access to some by TAKING time and money, in the form of reimbursement rates that don't even approach the cost of doing business, away from doctors that could be used on patients who tried to take care of themselves

I can't see "bronze" plan deadbeats going to the doctor any more often than they do now.

Obama and the evil democrats were always lying about rates going down and they knew it. This talking point is that Obama and the evil democrats thought that rates would triple. Now that they have only doubled it is dubbed lower. It's like Obama and ethe evil democrats new math on budgeting; we were going to spend a $500 billion more this year but we only spent $400 so we cut $100 billion off the debt.  Oh and it is a draconian cut extorted out of us by being held hostage with a gun to our heads by terrorist bomb strapped tea bagger anarchists.

Let's say you can't afford your ObamaPremiums and default to paying the fee, how do you still get medical care?  Go to the emergency room?  I thought that's what this monsrosity was supposed to alleviate.

4. Small price to pay for the millions of people that have never had insurance.

With a bit of household budgeting, I'm sure they will manage.

Once again the DUmmies demand that the responsible people do a little budgeting, yet if we suggest the DUmmies do a little budgeting and pay for their own shit they get all bent out of shape.
