Obama should not take this deal.
Word is Boehner will propose a temporary raise of the debt ceiling (6 whole weeks!) with no strings, but will not bring up a clean CR, leaving the government shut down.

This is a bad deal.

Most of the GOP's favored workers (defense workers) are already back at work. Now they want to protect their precious stock market, while leaving hundreds of thousands of government workers furloughed.

No debt ceiling deal without a vote on a clean CR.

Don't give in now, Mr. President.

2. There is no deal on the table. The speaker is supposedly presenting this deal to his caucus.

There is most likely no chance they will accept it.

4. Democrats have already called this a non-starter.

“We can’t fight on two fronts,” Speaker John Boehner told a meeting of House Republicans Thursday morning.
But Obama and Democrats have been crystal clear: they will not negotiate on any package until both government is open and the debt ceiling has been hiked. So this newest gambit might serve as nothing more but a negotiating position.

It’s also not clear that the House can pass this kind of a debt limit hike, given some conservatives’ desire to match the debt ceiling increase with spending cuts. If House Democrats do not support the package, Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) can only afford 15 GOP defections to pass the bill.

19. He Has No Choice. The Deal the House Repubs are offering is What the Senate Already Passed.

And if he vetoes a bill he supported in the Senate, he'll look dumber than the House Repubs.

I agree...that Obama and the congress should not agree to raise the debt ceiling.

Start cutting the spending....period.

It's quite funny to watch the DUmmies discuss the finances of this country, when most of them don't have two nickels to rub together.

Why do we even have a debt ceiling? They never follow it and simply raise it every few months anyway.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I'm going to go shower, I agree with the DUchebag. For diametrically opposed reasons but that's close enough to make me feel dirty.

At first I thought Boehner made a bad decision but if Obama says "NO!" I see a few more approval points going bye-bye. Now it is a matter of being his same old narcissistic self or reading the tea leaves. IMO, Kaptain Kickass says "go pound sand."

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Yes they do! They're our nickels, or "dollars", to be more precise! These are people who believe there is no national debt because we can just "print" more money!
