What's a Homeland Security check?  That's new to me.

There is a data hub of different agencies that the application gets passed through.

60. Absolutely not true!

My son is an ACA sign-up rep. Besides you don't get your credit score unless you pay for it. Most people get the 'free' credit reports that the govt has required these credit companies to provide to us for free once a year. They don't include a credit score, so this doesn't even make sense that the ACA reps would be asking callers for their credit score as a way of identification. That would be forcing people to buy the credit reports with the scores!

What I don't like, though, is the ACA sign-up process is being slowed down due to a Homeland Security check!

So... I'm supposed to believe some bottom rung drone knows more than the person in charge of the entire program for a state? Really, DUmbass?

Allow me to throw the bullshit flag. :bs:

This is where I play devil's advocate.  Credit scoring should never affect your ability to get insurance, utilities hooked up or a job, unless that job requires you to be in charge of money or other assets.  The credit scoring system in this country is a JOKE with absolutely no oversight.  Three different companies, with no accountability.

I have had my share of run-ins with the jackasses when getting my mortgages, trying to clear up errors.  They flatly refused, in some cases.  Our score wasn't bad, but it was the damned principle - when you see incorrect info on your credit report, you want it fixed.  So yeah, those experiences made me most angry for people who have crappy credit scores for reasons like job loss, divorce, etc.  Once the big three slam your score to the basement, it is very hard to get by - I picture a newly single mom who left a jerk of a husband and suddenly can't get the power hooked up in her new apartment because the power company pulled her credit and wants a huge deposit.... or the family of 6 whose sole bread earner finally finds the perfect job after being laid off for a few months, only to be turned down because their credit score hit the crapper while he or she was out of work.

OK, rant over, and I know I sound like the DUmp monkeys, but the credit thing pisses me off.  Pretty much anything that keeps people from being productive, working taxpayers and off the dole pisses me off.

Credit reporting agencies are shady. At the same time, there are people who should never get loans period. I under what USA4Me is saying too. I am sure they can contact banks and creditors besides just looking at paper.

Anyways, this whole Obamacare is a failure.  :mental: Hey DUmmies!

We're not laughing at them for being pissed over the credit score requirement, we're laughing at them for just now realizing how invasive ObamaCoup will be when we deduced these scenarios the whole time their masters were lying to the nation.

That's right we are laughing at them for celebrating both the passage and the SC blessing of 0bamacare. They wanted it, they got it, they can suffer under it. Every little detail of the law they complain about makes me laugh my head off.

JimDandy, you idiot, they're not suggesting that you announce your number as the identifier.  "I'm 530.  I'm a loser, obviously."

Never heard of Homeland Security check.

Oh, I see.  That also explains something else I read today.  All these agencies all have legacy systems that are supposed to "talk" to the new hellcare website.  They're having troubles.

I'll bet many of us here have experienced migrating to a new system, and the nightmare that the phrase "legacy system" can invoke.

Way things are now, it could just as easily stand for "Total Surveillance of Americans."

In that case, I'm not worried.

We've all seen the great job they do keeping 9 year-olds off of airline flights.   :thatsright:

Yep..raises hand...the ex decided when *HE* left to stop paying the mortgage in the first month. I was a stay at home mother for 12 years and had NO income and knew I wasn't likely to even get close to what I made  before that(and I still don't after working over 3 years now). He never really gave a second thought to his credit and it was my credit and his income that really allowed us our very first house before this one. Now I have neither and he at least has his income. It does not take into consideration extenuating circumstances. Thank goodness my work did when I got hired.

Yes, he behaves differently now, but that foible during that year has left a mark I may never be able to drag myself from independently:-( I've just resigned myself that I'll never buy a home again after that. Sucks!
