Found a sim-less lost phone...
A bit odd. Just found a sim-less BlackBerry Q10 on the floor in the lobby area of a the movie theatre I was just at (nice phone). The odd thing is that it seemed to be just placed there almost like it was there on purpose, not at an odd angle or anything, and it has no sim card in it. Now in order to remove the sim card you have to pop open the back of the phone and remove the battery but the cover and battery were all on/in fine. Almost like someone purposefully abandoned the phone.
A quick look through the contacts shows a huge number of contacts, all young people, looks like whoever owned the phone was in their late teens by the looks of their friends. I found an email address that I think is theirs. Just about to email the address to let them know about the found phone. Just in case I'm going to use a junk mail account and if they want the phone back I'd propose meeting at a Starbucks or something, not at my/their home. Anyone ever found a phone with no sim in it like this?

2. I wouldn't get caught with that phone.
Yep, I'm getting old and jaded - don't trust too many people.
I'd wipe my prints off of it, inside and out - drop it in a post office mailbox or leave it by a police station.
If it's harmless, the owner will probably get it back.
If not - no one will be coming to your door.

4. Would have turned it in at movie theatre office. Sure they have lost and found.
If it really was a misplaced, lost phone the owner will check back where they last had it. If not, it's the theatre's problem.

5. That was my first thought...
someone would probably ask at the theater first.

7. Take that phone, get a car, a bike, a cab, skates or a scooter.... or a helicopter...
and go back to the theater and go to the nice people there and say,
"Hey, someone left or lost this phone and I found it. Here."
There.
Then get a coffee or donut.

8. Like what others have previously advised, I'd say bring it back to the movie theater lost and found.
Let it be their problem. For your safety, of course.

9. Will return to theatre...
Update: will return to theatre as others have suggested. At first I didn't want to cause I like the idea of returning the item in person, being the hero etc Lol. But upon thinking it over and reading comments it's not worth it, better safe than sorry. Thanks.
<<<has found four lost telephones in lifetime, that I recall (maybe it was one or two more, I dunno).
<<<tossed them into the nearest trash receptacle.
<<<suggests others not lose cellular telephones around franksolich.
