From everything I've read, the penalties tend to stay in the $100s of dollars while the premiums are regularly in the $1000s.  Even at $50,000 income, when subsidies aren't available anymore, unless the penalties skyrocket quickly, it's going to be cheaper to pay the penalty for some time.  Long enough to kill this mess?  Hopefully.

Beth Beveridge Obama care aint what everyone thinks it is. Ive read through it and it is by no means low cost! It is the same cost as any other insurance. Some people have jobs and can still barely afford to feed their families! And to LEE ELKINS trashing someone

So, curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to see what O'care would cost compared to what I have now. NO COMPARISON! If I had to pay 3X for less coverage than what I've got, the house payment would be out the window, my family would live less that week to week, forget ever saving for retirement, and I wouldn't be able to pay for the college expenses for my daughters'. What would I tell them? "I'm sorry, we can't pay for you to go to college because we are paying $1903 a month for our healthcare so that others can be covered." And don't even get me started on not qualifying for any subsidies. The government could have fixed the "uninsured" issue without totally screwing those that had insurance by expanding Medicaid, a tax, SOMETHING! The fallout, unfortunately, will be MUCH worse than 30M uninsured. I'll end with this.....the American people have no problem paying a tad more so that Senior Citizens or the TRULY disabled have good coverage. What most have an issue with is having to fund those that fall into those 2 categories while their kids are having to do without what our income could provide for. It's ALL about personal responsibility UNLESS personal responsibility isn't the issue!

We've been saying this all along.  It's simply mathematically impossible.  There's only so much in the checkbook.  All that stuff people are saying up there, I pointed out to my idiot congresscreep.  No answer.  

It's very easy for them to live off $174,500, with their healthcare pretty much free.  And, they get insider-trading enhanced investments.  

We all bought houses and undertook mortgages, car payments, and 401K contributions with the assumption that the family budget would remain stable.  An extra $10K+ simply doesn't materialize.  

I think massive civil disobedience is the only recourse.  Has one policy been sold and paid for yet?  How about those obama cheerleaders in the facebook comments?  Did they pony up their $$$ yet?

You know, not one damn person considered for a moment in this age of insurance being an entitlement rather then what it is: a benefit provided by employers, that wages have not kept pace because included in those 'wages' was the BENEFIT of insurance ie at somepoint many employers in lieu of a certain amount of wages provided certain benefits instead. So now dummies, you get to pay for what was once a benefit with those after benefit wages since not one person got a wage increase to account for this benefit that is no longer being provided.

In the meantime the 'poor' end up better off for nothing and the middle class do worse then the mooching class while still have to log in their 40 hours or more a week. Nice!

this is much the same objection I have with artificially raising the minimum wage; what is the point of someone right out of college at an entry level position taking that position when they can work student loan free for the same flipping burgers? Wages will not go up as a percentage for everyone else so raising the minimum wage essentially lowers everyone else's wages by default or least the spending power and value of the dollars they make unless the person now making 15 bucks an hour was to get the same 90% increase fast food works(for example) wanted.

Wait until the LIV/NIVs try to use their insurance and have to wait weeks to see a GP and months to see a specialist.

in all my years of working and running companies I have never seen an organization become more efficient by adding an extra layer of management. Particularly if that extra layer is unionized and can't lose their jobs for lack of output or incompetence. I've also never seen the price of a product go down when a 3% tax is added to the raw materials.

I'm not so sure. In addition to huge premium increases, these plans have enormous deductibles and co-pays.

They seem more like catastrophic coverage. If DUmmies have to pay thousands out of pocket before the policy pays a dime, they're not going to flock into doctors' offices any more than they do now.

Healthcare is shitty in socialist countries like Canada, Cuba, and Britain because everything is "free" all the time.
