Serial shopper Dennis the Menace needs ACA, having trouble

Over 24 hours later, I still can't get onto Healthcare.gov
It keeps locking me out for various reasons. Usually the security questions don't come up. I've tried every browser I know, I don't think that's it. I got as far as the point where it was going to send me a confirmation of account email with a link to complete registration -- I got an email with gobbledygook and no working link. Dead end.

Alas, frustrating, but ... I think this means there is an overwhelming public response from people such as myself who need decent insurance they can hopefully afford.

Isn't this the guy bragging about expensive bikes and clothes?

Lots of DUmmies countering with their stories about how easy it was to sign up for...what, exactly, I don't know.

All hopes are dashed.

You're right, the DUmmies were real vague over there.  The cheerleaders kept saying "I got right in, lickety-split!"  But did they purchase a product?  Nobody's sayin.

By afford it means it wants it for free and have decent and civilized people pay for it. More money for iPhones and big scree TVs.

As these DUmmies gush over impossibly low premium rates, I haven't heard any of them discuss how they will cover the enormous deductibles and co-pays.

Seems to me a personal bankruptcy due to no medical insurance, and a personal bankruptcy due to thousands in deductible/co-pay debt are pretty much the same thing.

Anything short of the "platinum" plan sounds like those auto insurance scams that promise "state minimum coverage", i.e., no real insurance at all.

The other plans have been around forever, called "catastrophic" coverage. The only difference is that under kenyacare the catastrophic coverage will be a lot more expensive.

I doubt very 0bamaites will be paying any premiums.

We need a thread to post the Obamacare sign-up horror stories.

FOX was talking about a guy who could only find out that his insurance would cost him between $350-$800.  They can't tell you how much your insurance will cost.

How is that supposed to work?  Say your payment is $400 a month, with a deductible of $5000.  Are you out $9,800 a year before your insurance kicks in?

Yes, this is that guy.  He is also the one who, about this time last year, was whining about his credit card balance, and who, a few weeks ago gave a departing personal trainer several hundred dollars in 'good bye' gifts.

And there is this, responding to a suggestion he get in touch with a navigator.

As familiar as they all are with the ACA/Obamacare, and as close as google is to their fingertips, and inasmuch as they are smarter than the rest of us - why not simply find out for himself.

Yes!!! I have a dumb lawyer lib on the other site saying the reason she can't get on the obamacam website is because everyone is clamoring for the great deal.   :rotf:

Well, yes, but when it kicks in, you're still on the hook for a huge co-pay.

The DUmpmonkey Special plan only pays 60% after the deductible, so you're out the $9800, plus 40% of your medical bills, until you hit the calendar year limit which is around $13000 for a family. Then on January 1, the clock resets on your deductible and out-of-pocket limit.

So, in return for creating an enormous new entitlement and a bottomless pit of government spending, you get a really crummy insurance policy.

If you don't take the DUmpmonkey Special plan, you can pay a huge premium increase for insurance that's still worse than what you have now.

DUmmies aren't going to pay the co-pay. They aren't going to pay the deductible. All Obamacare is is a get in the hospital free card for DUmmmies. Honest hardworking folks will be over charged to cover the slackers....same as it is now.

Bingo. DUmmies want the status of being "insured," because they think that entitles them to get service for free. Otherwise this 0dumbocare law is a big fat nothing: you're on the hook for thousands, but when you show up at the hospital AGAIN, what are they going to do, say no? What are the real repercussions of doing the minimum possible to get "insured," ie, paying next to nothing? I can't think of anything that they don't already face.

Poor Dennis the Menace has probably been misspelling "healthcare".

It won't take his maxed out credit card.

Den, in that case, you're lucky you didn't get in, because when you do find out what you can afford vs. what is actually 'Decent' coverage by any pre-ACA standard, you're going to shit a mortar-encrusted adobe brick.  I can hardly wait!
