For a country that is supposed to be the most powerful in the world, the fact that Americans have today woken up  to find large swathes of their nation closed for business is humiliating.

Thanks to President Barack Obama obduracy over his flagship healthcare policy, Democrats and Republicans have failed to reach agreement in Congress on the federal budget, forcing the US Government to close down for the first time in 17 years, with around 700,000 federal workers being placed on indefinite leave.

While the White House insists that essential areas of the government, such as the military, will continue to function, the shut down represents yet a further blow to the prestige of the Obama administration at a time when it is still reeling from its inept handling of the recent Syrian crisis.

Heard on the radio this morning that the White House chef and calligrapher are still on the job.  I guess it would be too much to ask mochelle go into the kitchen and fix barry a sammich, or for the administration to use MS Word or Publisher to make any fancy documents during this political crisis.

We live in a country that once could reach the moon before anyone else and today we have to hitch a ride with the Russians to go into space. I'd say our super power days are over and 0bama and all the leftists love it.

I cant tell you how sad/pissed off I am at the fact we have to hitch rides with the Russians to get to the space station...our station. With that said I have NO problem with the govt. shutting down They need to shut down more often and more wide spread. There are to many people on the dole and to many offices for things WE do not need.
