I think I screwed up.
At work, we are in the process of putting the finishing touches on a big project. I got a phone call from someone at another agency giving us the heads-up that they were good to go with it as well. All systems go.

But I can't for the life of me remember the name of this person. I thought I did remember, but when I emailed him, he said he couldn't recall our conversation. I have a bad habit of not making notes to myself about phone conversations, unless it's something I have to pass on to someone else.

My boss needed to tell someone else and called me this morning, but I couldn't come up with a name. And when I did, it was the wrong one.

I just feel like I'm always screwing up and everyone is judging me for every mistake.

Her days are numbered.

3. Get yourself a notepad and pen...

Every day start at the top of a new page and put the date on it first thing. Make notes of anything that may be important.

"I write things down, so I don't have to remember them"

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

This advice has served me well.

I suspect that alarimer would forget the notepad. DUmmies are called DUmmies for a reason.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

DUmmies can't make mental notes....they have nothing to write on.

I suspect that alarimer would forget the notepad. DUmmies are called DUmmies for a reason.

Pharmaceutical drug use--even if prescribed by a bona fide physician--seems to, quite frequently, lead to blank spots in the memory, no matter what the drug is.

Sounds like it is time to swallow your pride.  It is unlikely that the person who called you is working in a vacuum.  Call the other agency back and tell the receptionist that you would like to speak to somebody regarding the progress of your project.  Somebody over there should know who to speak to, just as they were able to reach you in the first place.

In my working life, when somebody shows up for a conversation or meeting with me and they do not have a notebook or means to write down what the meeting or what I am saying they are not long for employment. Same thing for showing up on time.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I think I screwed up.
At work, we are in the process of putting the finishing touches on a big arts and craft project, I was in charge of the masking tape.  I got a phone call from someone at another agency giving us the heads-up that they were good to go with it as well. All systems go. I just came back from lunch and was stoned as **** when the phone rang.

But I can't for the life of me remember the name of this person. I thought I did remember, but when I emailed him, he said he couldn't recall our conversation and my rent was three months late. I have a bad habit of not making notes to myself about phone conversations, unless it's something I have to pass on to someone else. So I went ahead and took my Oxy 80 for my back, another Xanax because I started to panic and I fell asleep with my bong next to me.

My boss needed to tell someone else and called me this morning, but I couldn't come up with a name. When he called the phone scared me and I spilled the bong water all over my only pair of clean pants. Then my Obamaphone ran out of minutes and I could not get the directions to my next masking tape job.  I just feel like I'm always screwing up and everyone is judging me for every mistake.

Fixed

Had a classmate that was constantly late for clinical rotations. It was made clear that you had to be there by 0630 and you had a 10 minute grace for extenuating circumstances. But you had to call. If you didn't call and you were late you were sent home.
Well she rolled in one day at 0645 and was told to go home. Her excuse..."I was here at 0630 and was in my car, but I was here on time". She couldn't grasp the fact that here meant in the building with everyone else, not sitting in your car.

If you're self-aware about this, DUmmie, why not make a concerted effort to improve it?  A pad of paper and a pen are not that hard to come by and keep right by the phone.

Keep in mind that obamaphones are mobile. While the DUmmies are at the dope house they're notepad is still in the Sally dorm room.

You know, I've had times where I didn't have a pad or pen handy these days.  I may have left them in the truck for any number of reasons related to the environments I work in these days.  In cases where I am talking business, I let the other person know that I don't have that available and why, then I ask them to send me an e-mail or leave a text.  It's generally not a problem, most of my clients are delighted to have a contractor show up that isn't either high or drunk.

That explains why so many DUmmies are standin' in the unemployment line or on the Gubmint teat!

Yeah, AR . . . but you can bet your fourth point of contact that they won't be late for the appointment to get that 'sugar' from their 'Uncle.'
