On another board that is mostly off road enthusiasts and pretty conservative. One of our members had a similar issue but more complicated (long story short broken down truck and a crappy owner), and you know what those evil conservatives did?
Within 2 hours of his post the motel room was paid through the week (would have been an offer of staying in a home but no members were close enough), all his food was taken care of and he had transportation to pick up another truck. Man those people were real jerks not to send white light and the like.
