The reason it's OK for women/girls to wear pants and it's 'icky' for men to wear skirts is that it is ALWAYS OK for the lessers (women, naturally) to imitate their betters (men, naturally). It is NOT OK for the superior class to imitate the lower class. It's the same for the sports thing. And the hair thing. And the pink thing. And the emotional response thing.

Fix that patriarchy thing and this all goes away.....

I would like to ask Nay why in our culture the emotionality of women is acceptable yet the more reckless nature in men(also a positive and a minus like emotionality is in the female) is considered brutish and unacceptable? If someone can not see the not so subtle bias that has gone from punishing women for being women to punishing men for being men then that person isn't really observant at all. Of course the left's answer is to strip women equally of their femininity and throw a few pants at them and encourage them to act like drunken frat boys and call it a day of progress.I'd like to know how this has worked? I look around me and see very crass women and men who give a crap less for responsibility probably because the women they date are just as manly as they are so they have no feeling at all of protection over these less-feminine prototypes. And what of women who disrespect the natural inclination of a man by insulting him by seeking attention constantly to feel good about themselves and being validated in thinking they deserve constant attention 24 hours a day or they are being neglected. No thanks liberals...I've have had enough of your mess.

As a woman, I'd like to know why it's such a tragedy that I can excel at work and still maintain a feminine identity? What threat am I to a feminist like Nay to be a multi-faceted individual? I thought that's what original feminism was all about--allowing me to both be female and nurture and use my strengths to pursue success, validation, and an income like a man would? And why do I need to change men? Did men look down on women years ago? Sure...but does someone like Nay not see the progress made in 50/60 years on that front? Why is it necessary to not only ask for and demand respect that's earned, but now men should be 'punished' for past transgressions by being robbed of their masculinity too? Ugh, I'm getting a headache trying to understand liberal goals and outcomes.

I will give the dummies that--this is a cultural thing kind of like bellbottoms. Throughout history men have wore skirts(kilts) or loose dresses(togas) of one kind or the other. Men have worn hosiery and wigs too. The woman at the time would probably think jeans looked silly on men or dockers. Fashion is definitely a cultural thing. Now, the dummies trying to strip men and women of their current cultural identifiers of what is male and female is another matter. No matter what they do and as time changes to identify in other ways, they can not strip men and women of their basic identity unless they encourage men and women to be self-destructive in their behavior like the things I mentioned regarding constant attention or stripping men of basic respect. On that front given the crass culture around us they are winning by encouraging men and women to ditch the positive side of masculinity and femininity and behave like little more then animals with one another.

Well they are confused nutbags but by the same token I acknowledge societal and generational norms that make fashion in particular a more superficial indicator of what is masculine and feminine. Now on that note, I also think one does not try to buck the world around then because they choose to deviate from the standards of their time unless one is willing to accept the consequences.  If you are a girl and want to behave and look more manly then that's fine but the consequence is you are not likely to get the kid of male attention you might want. For men? Wear a skirt but don't expect for a professional work environment to be anymore accepting of that then they would be of flip flops to a meeting of high level managers.
