Maybe because Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country and they can see they aren't working.

     And of course, the Navy Yard shooting provoked about a third of the usual volume of gun grabber threads on DU, because, again, the shooter was black.

for home defense of course an AR and/or 12ga shotgun also are fine choices. Howitzers are just to large and loud for common self defense, unless you're Syrian.

and most states won't allow a 308 for squirrels, a nice 22 or 20ga work just fine.
