I've contributed to at 401K since I was 21, my current contribution is only 3% because I'm working on paying off school loans, but a little money goes to it every paycheck. I also have several savings accounts at the bank, one for an emergency, one for my future house purchase, and one for vacation travel (that one clearly isn't a long term savings account) that I contribute to each month.
I wish that I had worked to pay off my credit cards each month, I have a fair bit more credit card debt than I would like, but I am slowly chipping away at it.
I'll admit that I'm not taking most of the investment advice yet, but I will be adding more to my financial portfolio in the future.
I know that if I live below my means now and pay off as much debt as I can, then in 5 years or so, I will be very comfortable with my salary and will be able to save a large portion of it. I may not be in the 1%, but I don't need to be. I just need enough money to make life comfortable
