Seems that a lot of decent apps don't get used as much as one would expect because they depend on word of mouth.

Recent fave I've found is Waze--GPS map where you can enter directions, and it'll give you traffic, cops, accidents, etc., as entered by other drivers.
Then there are the obvious others: Pandora, Kayak, Angry Birds, the usual stuff.
