Darn I remember in 1968 or so watching the miss America Pagent in Conn. and the woman chosen for Miss NH was a beautiful black woman. At the time there were perhaps 600 blacks in the state and this contestant had come from another state and she was chosen to represent NH over every other girl living here. She beat out the girls of every other race, that were residents.
Only thing I was glad of was the State of Maine could not find a girl that did not come from a wealthy family to participate, their Representative was from a wealthy family in DC that had Camel teeth and cross eyed.
