Colorado Lawmakers Ousted in Recall Vote

--> The best thing is they lost BIG in strong Democrat districts: Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
Quote
COLORADO SPRINGS — Two Colorado Democrats who provided crucial support for a slate of tough new gun-control laws were voted out of office on Tuesday in a recall vote widely seen as a test of popular support for gun restrictions after mass shootings in a Colorado movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school.

The election, which came five months after the United States Senate defeated several gun restrictions, handed another loss to gun-control supporters. It also gave moderate lawmakers across the country a warning about the political risks of voting for tougher gun laws.

The recall elections ousted two Democratic state senators, John Morse and Angela Giron, and replaced them with Republicans. Both defeats were painful for Democrats – Mr. Morse’s because he had been Senate president, and Ms. Giron’s because she represented a heavily Democratic, working-class slice of southern Colorado.

In an emotional concession speech, Mr. Morse called the loss of his seat “purely symbolic” and defended the record of the last legislative session as “phenomenal.”

“We made Colorado safer from gun violence,” he said afterward, as his supporters trickled away from a hotel ballroom here in his district. “If it cost me my political  career, that’s a small price to pay.”

If your record was so "phenomenal" why did 23% of the registered Democrats in your disctrict sign the recall petition?

I would now like for certain NY state legislators to be squirming uncomfortably in their seats.  Mine, for one.  A dingbat named Addie Jennie Russell, a Dimocrat, voted for Cuomo's gun grab and idiotic bans.  Even though her district is all woods and farm, she just had to line up behind Andy, no matter what.  The area up here screamed against NY Safe Act.

There are numerous properties that have yard signs displaying "No NY Safe Act."  I was thinking what a great home invasion protection.  A would-be invader would see that, and know that not only a gun owner lives there, an enthusiastic gun owner lives there.

There are two sides to that, on the one hand it makes criminals avoid it if they think anyone mignt be home, but on the other hand it makes you a burglary target for either more patient types or the neighbor's dirtbag kids and/or associates once they are sure there isn't anybody home.

Gotta love the Governors "typical" Proglodyte response:

Also, I found the "defiance" of those ousted, laughable.

Hickenlooper had presidential aspirations. His obsequiousness curbed his ambitions.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I have yet to see or hear about a single gun committing an act of violence.  It is always a person that commits violence.

Especially that chick.  There's a clip of her on CNN having a meltdown.  Ranting that it must have been voter suppression, what else it possibly be?  The anchor pushed back, giving a dose of reality, and she freaked.

When sacked, quiet dignity is what is called for.

Can you put your finger on that clip, Karin?

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.
