Oh my.

Dear sweet old Lu must be off today; apparently she doesn't understand moderating (or hostessing) is a seven-day-a-week job.

1. Tacos!

Ground beef, which is my favorite.

And some guacamole I am going to make from a most excellent avocado recently brought to me by a friend.

Leftover succotash also on the menu. I made it by grilling corn, green beans, scallions and tomatoes on my new cast iron grill - also recently sent to me by a friend!

^^^seems to have forgotten all about her good chum the brain-damaged primitive.

2. Supermarket rosemary & garlic roasted chicken, couscous, tomatoes w/ basil, oil and vinegar.

i.e. A quick, simple good dish of a meal.

5. I'm going to make a meat loaf this week.

Haven't made one for a while and I'm jonesing for one.

<<<had to nadin "jonesing."

She's been jonesin him for months.

8. I miss Sunday family dinners and hope that there will be more in my future.

Glad it was good and hope you were surrounded by love and smiling faces.

7. Well, I was going to bake some chicken...

Didn't much like the smell when I cleaned it, shoved it into the oven anyway. Went back to sniff about 30 minutes later. REALLY didn't like the smell. Took the chicken down to the trash. Called a local Chinese place and ordered mu shu beef and barbecued pork. Very good and not spoiled.

9. Ugh, that is one horrible smell.

And once I get a whiff of it, I just can't eat it.

Good for you for tossing it.

Expiration dates don't mean a thing sometimes, but the smell test is irrefutable.

10. I'd intended to cook it on Friday.

But it got warmer than predicted and -- despite air conditioning -- I didn't want to turn on the oven then. LOL, didn't even notice the expiration and now it's in a dumpster so I won't go check.

It wasn't worth keeping and certainly not a good idea to eat it for the next four days.

11. I was going to have a fairly big dinner party one night.

I had to search high and low to find kosher* chicken to accommodate a friend. I found it, it looked good and when it was time to cook it, I discovered the smell.

Can't remember what I did, but I was panicked.

Just can't eat bad chicken.

*wants to brag that some of her best friends are of Judaic derivation.

12. That must have been awful!

I can see why you panicked. At least my solution was simple.

<<<had brown rice, broccoli, and cheese, with a mountain of sour cream heaped on it, for supper.

<<<has better palate than the primitives do.

Am I the only one who found this thread title particularly hilarious?  :-)  I can think of a lot of things I might be "jonesing" for, but meatloaf doesn't even make it to the bottom of the list...

"Paradise By The Dashboard Light" is one of the best rock songs ever, but it's way too long so it never got any airplay.

No, not from start to finish...

You know, that's one of those movies I only catch pieces of when it's on TV or HBO...we all have those.

Now that scene I have heard of, never saw, though, since they wouldn't show that on TV I'm sure.

Having had sex described to him as "like warm apple pie", he then attempts to copulate with the apple pie, correct?   Sounds funny...!
