Liberal education at it's finest!!!

First three paragraphs:

" Two-thirds of Americans cannot name a single Supreme Court justice, former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor told the crowd that packed into a Boise State ballroom to hear her Thursday.

About one-third can name the three branches of government. Fewer than one-fifth of high school seniors can explain how citizen participation benefits democracy.

"Less than one-third of eighth-graders can identify the historical purpose of the Declaration of Independence, and it's right there in the name," she said. "

Wonder why our country is failing? This is why. The libs have won. They have dumbed down the masses so much that we will continue to decline until tyranny takes over and the dumb masses get stood up against the wall. I hope the dummies are first.

I admire O'Connor.  Have to agree with her, too.  And, ashamedly, have to admit I know less than I should.  Basic things.  I've been surprised that people from other countries seem to know more about the government and politics of MY country than I do.

No real excuse, and I've been doing some reading this summer of history texts (high school level!) along with attending some of the talks at our county library.  I've always felt that our country got into its current condition because too many of its' citizens where nonchalant about our past and the examples of other countries, and it took things getting bad before I, too, made an effort to learn.

Given what's happened, and what's going on lately, with the current Oministration, it is increasingly difficult to see a cause-effect relationship on that one.
