People who incessantly petition to expand the powers of the law and government should not act surprised when they find their freedom rapidly diminishing.

It's really this simple, (D)ipshits.

They told me if I voted for Mitt Romney there would be a huge police state that would forcibly arrest war protestors.

Perfect time for that one!   :hi5:

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

I'm not actually sure who she is or what her real background might be.  I only know the interviews she gave.  She says she got out of the military in 2008.

Her bio: http://emilyyatesdoeseverything.com/bio-contact/

Quote
Emily served in the Army from 2002 to 2008, which included two combat tours to Baghdad, Iraq – the first from January 2005 to January 2006, the second from March 2007 to May 2008. Three weeks after her second deployment ended, she received her honorable discharge from the military. About a year later, she came across the organization Iraq Veterans Against the War (www.ivaw.org) and thought, “Hey! I am one of those.” So she joined, and continue to be as active within the Bay Area chapter as she is able. She is a supporter of IVAW’s Operation Recovery – the campaign to stop the deployment of traumatized troops, to which you can donate here. She is also an advocate of bringing back the draft in order to reconnect Americans with the consequences of war and U.S. foreign policy and intervention. She received her B.A. in Near Eastern Studies at U.C. Berkeley in May 2013, and has been using her studies to better understand and process her own experience as a participant in the Iraq War. In 2012, she created a short documentary called “Islamophobia in the Military,” which was screened on September 11, 2012 at UC Berkeley. Her aim is to continue to create avenues for public discourse surrounding this and other issues relating to an increasingly militarized American society.

It is a goal of Emily’s to organize a group of Iraq veterans who are musicians to go back to Iraq and collaborate with Iraqi musicians on a music project. If you or anyone you know might be interested in participating or helping facilitate this project, email emily@emilyyatesdoeseverything.com.

IMHO, she looks and acts like a modern day hippie... I noticed that none of her so-called "friends" jumped in to help her. They asked her to leave nicely. If she had left

without giving any beef back, she would have not been arrested. I have never been rude to a police officer , ever. But then again, I have never given a police officer a

reason to detain me either.....yeah I know, miss goody two shoes.

I was thinking at work today, that for someone, who is supposedly a vet, has a low pain threshold.  I figured in basic, bootcamp, they put people thru emotional, mental and physical tests to make sure that they will be able to handle stress under fire and combat... I wondered if she talked back to her staff(?)sargeant, the way she talked to those police officers. I am surprised if she actually got thru one week of basic, the way she was carrying on...
