Oh my.

And one hopes she gets stuck in there, and can't come back out again.

And down the rabbit hole I go

Well, I said that I would look into the claims that indeed there is something more to the recent mayoral scandal in San Diego. Well, I have spent the weekend reading on other scandals.

Here are a few choice words for you. I actually read "Roger Hedgehock and Liberal allies" in the same sentence. Yes, THAT Roger Hedgehock... that same Right Wing hack of a Roger Hedgehock. I guess after some time in jail he decided that if he was going to make a living in radio, he needed to find Jesus (or Rush in this case) on his way to Damascus. He actually picked a fight with downtown interests, and was the first in a long line of pols to lose.

I also read San Diego down town mafia in LA Time reporting as early as 1985, after the scandal, that scandal, was done. As well as the NYT New Service. So the warning from Filner to the Council was really mild compared to some of the things I am reading in archival material. And thank you google, I can find the material online, and save it to my computer.

And the agenda for Mayor Murphy in the 2000 was oddly very similar to the campaign promises made by Bob Filner. Oh the parallels are down right scary in some aspects, such as energy independence, slowing down growth and returning attention to the neighborhoods and away from downtown interests.

I no longer think this is just an odd coincidence.

For the record, many a town around the US have professional interests that do indeed control downtown, so San Diego would be far from unique. Nor is the media usually going to talk about that aspect of local politics.

But it is kind of disquieting to find out that there is more to this than just a good measure of tin foil. Indeed it seems you cross these shadowy figures, some are not that shadowy, and you will be sorry as a pol locally.

Look on the bright side, they don't care what political party you supposedly belong to. So far they have gotten four scalps, two dems and two republicans.

Big Don is right. Roger Hedge clock didn't go to jail so where did El Capo get the idea that he did? Also if she somehow finds a way to get a book written it will only be available as a download from her desktop.

Small town politics?  Didn't Nadin state (incorrectly, as I corrected her) that San Diego was one of the 10 largest media markets? ???

Once again, the DUmp's trained hysterian is totally, completely wrong.

California democrats framed Hedgecock on a political contribution charge. He served not one day in jail, and has only a misdemeanor on his record.

Quote
Hedgecock reached a deal with prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy in return for no jail time or retrial. As part of the deal, a judge reduced the felony to a misdemeanor and dismissed the case

For nearly thirty years since his resignation from office, he has had a nationally-syndicated radio show. A few years ago, he used to sub for Rush from time to time. His income is many times that of the mayor of San Diego.

I wonder if any DUmmy will have the nerve to challenge nutcase nadin on the latest of her astonishingly ignorant misstatements.

Nads writing a Book?! I can't wait to see the vanity press that will publish her word salad.

She already has.  Here's the link: Amazon.com

One thing that I THINK that I'm interpreting from her word salad is that she thinks she's performing investigative journalism because she's reading some old stuff that was written by real journalists. I read old stuff by real journalists all of the time. I never knew I was an investigative journalist because of it.

People will do anything for enough money, and it wouldn't even technically be illegal, at least in the US...though I guess there is always the chance the International Court of Justice might take it up as a 'Crime against humanity.'

I've been doing some additional thinking on the subject. Conservative Cave is paying me EXACTLY the same thing that East Coast whatever is paying nads.

I suppose I am indeed a journalist.

I do think I need to come up with some sort of catch, tag line, or trademark as almost all the journalists seem to have them. Cronkite had his "and that's the way it is" tag line. Nads has her misspellings and undecipherable word salads as a trademark.

So she's doing investigative journalism by reading old research? Wow. Then I have dozens of high school students doing "investigative journalism" every year when they do research papers. Although, the high schoolers use spell check and generally hand in their essays in English, unlike the Little Beach Ball.

Well, only one book seems to be available new. One used. $57 bucks for the core rulebook?
she likely has fewer readers than Wee Willie.

I know, the prices there blow my mind, as does the prospect of having fewer readers than Pitt.  It's kind of like going below absolute zero or finding the negative infinity +1 or something like that.   :-)

Your students are doing far more investigative research than anyone in the media.
