OBAMA DELAYS KEYSTONE PIPELINE DECISION AGAIN TO 2014
« on: August 25, 2013, 09:17:21 AM »

Delay after delay has kept the Obama administration from giving a final go ahead for construction of the Keystone pipeline and the upwards to 42,100 jobs it would create.

Now the State Department is saying the decision will be pushed off again–this time until 2014.

This newest hurdle was put in place with a demand by environmentalists that the government investigate a supposed conflict of interest with the contractor that was hired to write a report on the pros and cons of the pipeline project. The review rated the project favorably.

The State Department’s Office of Inspector General announced on August 23 that the results of the investigation into whether or not Environmental Resources Management has ties to pipeline builder TransCanada Corp. won't be ready until January.

This late release of the results of the investigation almost assures that the government won't begin making any decisions until 2014.

The President has done everything he can to distance himself from having to make this final decision. He's demurred many times to definitively say where he stands on the project and has even diminished the number of jobs the pipeline will create, characterizing the whole project as inconsequential.

Earlier in the year, Obama said that the pipeline would only create 2,000 jobs and that the whole project was just a "blip" in the big jobs picture. This is a claim even the left-leaning PolitiFact.com called false.

Not long after that, the President absurdly downgraded his estimate even further, claiming that only 50 jobs would be created by the project.

Still, even Democrat backers of the project say they are "optimistic" that the whole thing will be approved eventually.

After a recent visit to the Canadian oil sands, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) said she believes the pipeline will eventually get the green light.

My understanding is this has been investigated more than the scandals of democrats in congress by Pelosi.  The truth is Obama is trying to cripple America.

I think everything King Obama does is about keeping the Democrats in power and living the high life. He doesn't give a crap about the country in general, it's people or the constitution. He also has to keep a lot of his financial backers happy and "owing" him, for when this gig is over.

This is a combination of pandering to the base while at the same time not playing into the hands of the GOP who rightly would have claimed he is increasing out dependence on ME oil, but doing little to nothing to develop sources at home.

Bottom line, this is a mess of his own making, and at some point he's going to have to OWN IT.

Obama downplays the jobs generated by the pipeline as temporary and not what is needed, then turns around and pushes for bridge and road construction.  Those are the very definition of temporary jobs. However, the pipeline would also generate permanent jobs, which he completely ignores.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

 :whatever:

I didn't know what particular excuse they would use, but I was absolutely certain the Maladministration would play this game.  If I was running Canada, I'd tell him "So **** you, knob, enough of this shit, eh?  We're building west to Vancouver, starting tonight."

I don't think so.  China would love to have access to Canada's oil and they'll get it if the Keystone pipeline isn't built.

Nope...not even then.  Once we're past the 2014 mid terms he'll delay them again until 2016 or 2017 so he never gets blamed for the crap he's done and someone else will be left to clean up the mess.

I'm with txradioguy on that one...as soon as the 2014 election is out of the way, it'll be the 2016 election dynamics that paralyze everything; the safest time for a lame duck Leftie Prez to approve something as irritating to moonbats as a pipeline is actually in the last midterm election of his Presidency, since any fallout from it will be a distant memory before his party needs all that moonbat money, fanaticism, and turnout for the next Presidential election.  If he isn't doing it by the 2014 election, I think he'll decide to keep stalling until after the 2016 one as well.  He and his advisers may not actually think that's what they're going to do now, but once 2014 is out of the way and they start thinking about 2016, they'll realize 2014 was actually their best window for it, and any desire to proceed will evaporate.

Mike, I just have to ask.

I think that for the most part your situation here is pretty much beyond being rehabilitated. What is it that brings you back?

You have a blog right? Does it have a message board? Why not tend to your own "readership" instead of come here to draw fire? I guess I sort of understand the concept of an Internet troll, you know, bad attention is better then no attention at all and all that.

Really, what do you figure you gain here?

Ego.  Arrogant pride. The sheer joy of refusing to cooperate.
