Veterans Affairs: Full care for transgender veterans

Many veterans that are transgender are unable to afford many of the things they need to fully transition to the opposite sex. The VA did pass a directive(VHA Dir 2012-003) to "help aid transgender veterans", but this stops with meds and if your lucky, psychiatric help. Many transgender fall into depression, which results in suicide due to not being able to afford the cost of SRS or even a simple breast implant surgery. I feel that if the VA is going to continue to progress in the treatment of transgender vets, that they should offer surgical options. Now, don't get me wrong, I am glad to see the VA taking a step in helping with meds, But they shouldn't stop there. Help me to help other transgender vets and myself get what we need, to help stop the pointless loss of life, when there can be a helping hand for them. If they can help with the major ones, SRS,breast implants for MTF, breast removal for FTM, and even tracheal shave for MTF, these things could turn around the depression of many transvets, and lead to them having a long and productive life. The national average of attempted suicide is 1.6% of the general population, and the trans community in that 1.6%, 47% of them have attempted suicide.

So, please help by signing this petition, and help pave the way for a brighter future for our transvets.

So if a female vet is upset that she has small breasts the VA should then giver her implants? Sorry morons it does not work that way. The VA is in the business of taking care of service related issues and providing care for those with low incomes (to an extent) not for doing addadictome surgery.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but once one is court-martialed, one loses all veterans' benefits anyway, right?

Not necessarily. Many, if not most, Service members who receive courts-martial, do not forfeit Veterans benefits on separation. The loss of benefits comes from the nature of discharge.

Private Chelsea Cupcake will be dishonorably discharged and will forfeit all Veterans benefits when he completes his prison sentence.

Maybe as a community service we need to offer a class on this. That way there would not be so many failures.

Bingo. Most of us who have scars from our service, both physical and mental have lived our lives, quietly, without any thanks or expectation of same. No, you little snowflakes just want someone to pay for what you couldn't be bothered to take care of yourselves, which has nothing to do with any time you ever spent in uniform.

Question is, is this a big bull crap for veterans that have survived combat and have injuries to get the attention of the VA. Veteran looses a leg, he needs care but he is given a 4 month wait. So He applies for a sex change and is taken in, in 10 days. First they address the leg issue, get him what he needs, in 6 months he is read to walk, it would have taken him 18 months with just this issue, and changes his mind about the sex change.

Cannot blame him, any way to get care from the VA is OK in my Book.

Does anyone know what happened after the civil war ended to those missing arms and legs 800 miles from home ??

Nasty stuff that is accepted as Health care for the locked up criminals in our Prisons. How is health care of the body to sustain life any way connected to the disillusionment that one is something they are not ?

Some mental diseases cannot be cured, some believe they are Napoleon, some believe they are a woman or a man. Difficult to convince a male or female that their need is for young children, or goats or sheep. This is them, cannot be changed , same as my desiring chocolate candy.

Years of mental health, locked up where I live without a Snickers bar. 15 minutes out of the lock up I am sitting on a curb gorging on chocolate.

Doctors in the prisons that allow the patients to escape reality by giving their prisoners medical surgery to reinforce their delusions are just as crazy as their patients.

To me these doctors are experimenting on their patients not for the well being of a delusional but for themselves to be able to write medical story's to the AMA.

To change or enhance looks the looks via plastic surgery is one thing, the patient stays the same. But to alter the sex of a patient is way out, science fiction crap---
