I came REAL close one time.
My daughter's ex was bipolar and would scream and hit her and our granddaughter. My BIL near Buffalo had done brick work for the mob, and the don had told him that if he ever needed anything "special" all he had to do was ask. My BIL also hated the ex, and we came real close to calling for a favor.
But then sometime, somewhere, we knew they'd want something in return. Discretion being the better part of valor, we didn't do it.
A guy our daughter once dated, now at a local American Legion Post, said the same thing, and that he and a few buddies would take care of things if I asked them. He and I used to play pool in our basement. He really loved and respected our daughter, and he was and is a really good guy. I didn't do that, either.
A lady judge in Kenosha, WI, took care of things. The creep was humiliated, forbidden to see or communicate with her kids, and ordered to take his meds and to go to an anger management clinic. He never did either of those things, and the judge really got pissed at him. I was in the courtroom for both instances. End of story.
