Posting this here and then asking it be moved to the "own it" thread but wanted lurking DUmbasses to see what reality is.

NEW YORK | Wed Aug 21, 2013 2:31pm EDT

Aug 21 (Reuters) - United Parcel Service Inc has told non-union employees their spouses will no longer be eligible for company-sponsored health insurance if they can get coverage through their own jobs, blaming the decision on President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law.

In a memo to employees reported on Wednesday by Kaiser Health News and USA Today, the package-delivery giant said that of the approximately 33,000 spouses who are currently covered by UPS's health plan, about 15,000 will be thrown off. The company employs about 77,000 people.

The company said in the memo that it considered increasing the premium paid by its employees to help retain spousal coverage, but "we believe your spouse should be covered by their own employer," because "the Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide affordable coverage."

Is this the "keeping the plan you like" or is this the "your premiums will go down $2500" part of King Barky the Liar?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

You know what is worst  :-) UPS is unionized. It will be interesting to see what the non-union shop Fed-X does.

They went Teamsters, late 97, early 98, as I recall.
I'm curious about FedEx myself.  Might prove interesting.

They want waivers now.  I find that interesting.
Perhaps the entire population needs a waiver from that shit sandwich.

My company has been doing this for years.  If a spouse works and is covered by their employer, then they aren't covered through our insurance.  Nothing to do with ObamaCare, though.

So far it looks like the only parts of ObamaCare that will go into effect is the individual mandate.

Every where I have ever worked in benefits, we have priced employee + spouse higher, in order to "push" spouses to stay on their own insurance.  It's all about decreasing risk.  I have worked for companies that have wanted to institute policies like this, but no one ever did.

Obamacare requires insurance policies to cover so much BS that the policies will be anything but affordable.

50. "Cadillac" plans are plans exceeding cost limits above which employers pay a penalty

Americans with so-called "Cadillac" employer-sponsored health plans may feel pinched soon because employers fear the impact of a fresh wave of government taxes on them, The Fiscal Times reported.

Under the Affordable Care Act, employers will have to pay an excise tax on plans that cost more than $10,200 for an individual or $27,500 for a family. An employer would have to pay a 40 percent tax on the cost each plan above those levels.

59. If you don't like that source, use Google yourself...

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (as amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010) imposes an annual excise tax on plans with premiums exceeding $10,200 for individuals or $27,500 for a family (not including vision and dental benefits) starting in 2018.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_insurance_plan

Although the tax does not start until 2018, employers say they have to start now to meet the deadline and they are doing whatever they can to bring down the cost of their plans. Under the law, an employer or health insurer offering a plan that costs more than $10,200 for an individual and $27,500 for a family would typically pay a 40 percent excise tax on the amount exceeding the threshold.

“I’m actually much more focused on the Cadillac tax in 2018 than on 2014,” Steve First, a benefits executive at Pfizer, said at a recent meeting of employers. “For us, 2018 is a challenge.”

The other sources are just as RW as the first. You seem to think that quoting a "benefits" director at Pfizer is nicer? Sorry, not interested in their bullshit.

It's working out about as good as rent control in New York.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Working out pretty good for the old racist and tax cheat Charlie Rangel.
