Just hours after North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) signed a sweeping voter ID measure into law, a 92-year-old African-American woman has sued the state claiming that her constitutional rights had been violated.

At a bill signing with no formal ceremony on Monday, McCrory quietly signed the Republican bill that will require a voters to present a government-issued ID, cuts early voting days, stops same-day registration, ends “straight ticket” party voting, makes it harder for students to vote and gives poll watchers new powers for challenging voters.

The first lawsuit, filed by the NAACP, says that 92-year-old Rosanell Eaton will be disenfranchised after voting for 70 years.

“Mrs. Eaton, who was born at home, has a current North Carolina driver’s license, but the name on her certified birth certificate does not match the name on her driver’s license or the name on her voter registration card,” the lawsuit notes. “Mrs. Eaton will incur substantial time and expense to correct her identification documents to match her voter registration record in order to meet the new requirements.”

Would I be too much of an asshole for pointing out that if she has the time to file complaints in court and the money to dress in a nice clean set of clothes that obtaining a FREE state ID is not too much of a burden and I also believe that her race in no way leads me to expect she is too much of a mental invalid to navigate the process for doing so.

Do such thoughts make me a hateful, spiteful rabbit?

In other words. she's been hand-picked/coached, by the aclu to parrot a DUmbocratic/socialist agenda.
Primitives don't seem to understand that years ago, all of those were in place.
It was liberal/socialist/DUmbocrats that foisted early voting, same day registration, &etc, to stuff ballot boxes.
Nobody is being disinfrancised. Nobody.
Students can still vote...in their home state. They do, after all, have to show a govt. ID to buy beer. Why not to vote?
That lady won't incur and expense at all, and minimal time. DUmpmonkeys lie...again.

IF voting was so damned important to these DUmbasses, why not make the effort to make sure all the "t's" were crossed and the "i's" dotted.

It's easier to bitch and whine than to actually fix something.

Personally, early voting should go bye-bye, period.  You can't be bothered to get off your ass to vote on the second Tuesday in November, or if you can't show reason to vote absentee (like being out of the district, etc.,) then you don't get to vote.

Snuggs pointed it out perfectly.  For the amount of time she spent getting prepped, pampered, and posterized, she could have taken care of any and all "issues" she had with her identification.

Besides what's been said, it doesn't make any sense . I can see where a married woman or a woman who had her name legally changed would have a birth certificate that didn't exactly match her DL. But why wouldn't your DL match your voter registration?  What kind of person goes around with ID with two or three different names on them?

Hmmm, 70 years, where semi-major elections are evry two.
Sooooo, she's voted in 35 elections for a total of 105 votes minus two (off year this time).
