Obama says bin Laden must not be a martyr
« on: June 18, 2008, 10:27:07 PM »
what the  :censored: ing  :censored:?!?!?

making him a martyr sounds fine to me.  you have to be dead to be a martyr, right?  is the world
confused as to what this murdering bastard is "engaged in"?  is his #1 priority really to avoid UBL's
"martyrdom", for God's sake?

there's a lot more at the link;  this story actually gets better (well, it gets more annoying, at least)
as you read it.

Obama says bin Laden must not be a martyr

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Wednesday he would bring Osama bin Laden to justice in a way that wouldn't allow the terrorist mastermind to become a martyr, but he may be killed if the U.S. government finds him.

"First of all, I think there is an executive order out on Osama bin Laden's head," the Illinois senator said at a news conference. "And if I'm president, and we have the opportunity to capture him, we may not be able to capture him alive."

Obama's campaign said he was referring to a classified Memorandum of Notification that President Clinton approved in 1998 — revealed in the 9/11 Commission report — that would allow the CIA to kill bin Laden if capture weren't feasible.

Obama said he wouldn't discuss what approach he would take to bring bin Laden to justice if he were apprehended. But he said the Nuremberg trials for the prosecution of Nazi leaders are an inspiration because the victors acted to advance universal principles and set a tone for the creation of an international order.

"What would be important would be for us to do it in a way that allows the entire world to understand the murderous acts that he's engaged in and not to make him into a martyr, and to assure that the United States government is abiding by basic conventions that would strengthen our hand in the broader battle against terrorism," Obama said.

Obama knows as much about his kissing cousin as I know about brain surgery. He sounds so stupid when he opens his trap.

I wonder if he asked the families of the 3,000 people he murdered on September 11th, or the families of the Sailors of the USS Cole, if they want Osama to be a martyr or not?   :whatever:

I'm starting to wonder what the **** is wrong with this country that we've let a man this dumb gain such prominence.  Then again...  Kerry did come pretty damn close to the White House...

Obama, like most democrats and other idiots, needs to understand terrorism does not begin and end with Osama bin Laden.

I don't even know what this means.  would he stop the pursuit?  would a guided munition on a cave or a safe house accomplish this guilt and judgment free (not to mention responsibility free) means of bringing to justice a man that ordered the death of 3,000 of our citizens?  then answer is pretty clearly "no".

the only way of accomplishing the obama plan that I can think of would be if he turned himself in, confessed, and committed suicide immediately thereafter.  and I just don't see that happening.

Yeah, we just capture Osama and then he's dragged into the US courts under the SC ruling (with 9 Ginsburgs on it after he's done appointing judges), and having Alan Dershowitz defend him "See! If the turban don't fit, you must acquit!" **** dat, shoot him on sight as soon as he comes out of his hidey hole I say.
