HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - The mother of an escaped inmate, who remains on the loose, has been arrested nearly a week after her son escaped the Garland County Detention Center.

Deputy Scott Hinojosa said 54-year-old Glenda Estell was arrested for assisting in the escape of her son, Derrick Estell. An arrest report from the Garland County Sheriff's Department states that 40 phone calls were made between Derrick and his mother from June 28, 2013-July 28, 2013. Estell escaped on July 28.

The report states, "the phone conversations between Derrick and Glenda Estell all have random mentions of the plan for Derrick to escape custody, just at various intervals between normal conversations."

The apple does not fall far from the tree.

Human nature to want to protect a child even when one knows it is wrong.

Grandmothers are the worse, they get their knickers in a bind and refuse to listen to the mothers of grandchildren and do them more harm then good. Mom will tell her mother her son or daughter the son or daughter is addicted to drugs, do not give them any money.    Grandma does not want to believe it, when the child comes begging for food money grandma gives them money and a day later the child dies of an overdose.

Complicated when a child gets in trouble, what to do, is this my fault not there's.  Sad but some parents spend tons of money bailing out and paying for lawyers for their no good rotten kids.

What ever happened to tough Love, first time in trouble let the kids suffer the penalty. [ Judge Joe Brown]

I am reminded of the mother in the wild west that had some sons that were wild ones.  She protected them for years and finally the sheriff came to her home and some how she got her arm blown off.

If one knows a child is guilty of a crime, well, they got themselves into it, let them find a way out of it.

Seen this over and over again, Moms hiding kids from the law and the outrageous steps they will do to do so.
