With all the stuff that's missing....it ain't worth $500.
Only once in my life did I have a car worth stealing, a 1964 Corvette Stingray soft top.
Rest of my life I drove the cars that were 10-15 years old and had no reason to even lock them.
I hear people say that an older car will nickel dime you to death, but paying $1500 for a car or truck that costs an average of $500 a year to keep on the road with cheap insurance-----Figure out the cost to buy a car and spend just $200.00 a month for the car payment + insurance for 5 years.
Comes out to $2400 a year and x 5 = $12,000. So your neighbor buys a clunker for $1,500 in five years it costs around $500 a year to keep it running. They have spent a fortune and in the same time frame you spent $2,500 for the same use the neighbor has.
Maine is called the Bondo State for a reason, some of these cars and trucks are 20 years old held together with Bondo and chicken wire. Best friend you can get in Maine is someone that can keep the frame welded together.
BIL fell asleep coming home from work. His truck was a total mosh mash. The truck was towed to a yard and we went down to see it to be told BIL could remove all personal items then turn the truck over to them.
BIL was not literate but not a fool, he went home to collect receipts for everything he had bought himself for the truck, New tires and Hubs, new side mirrors, his stereo speakers and he had had the gas tank replaced a couple months before his accident.
The tow yard had a fit when he began to remove personal items that he could prove were his with receipts even for the new battery. ---- Police were called but it ended up with him putting in storage to be sold his " personal items."
Question came to law, what is a personal item, if one can prove one has bought and item, is that not a personal item ?????
