More Faux News and waiting rooms (with copycat Bouncies)
« on: July 31, 2013, 10:21:42 PM »
I'm convinced these "Fox News on in the waiting room" of their doctor/dentist/auto repairman/sex change surgeon are their "go-to" Bouncies when they can think of nothing more creative:

faux news blaring in optometrist office. i left

In Los Angeles and with a zillion cable channels the decision to blare faux news on the only big ass TV in the waiting room is done deliberately to educate the masses. I quietly left, had already signed in.

I have never done that before. Got fed up.

They called me. I didn't pick up.

"They called me. I didn't pick up."

Wouldn't it be funny if they were calling to tell the dumbass he/she had dropped their wallet in the waiting room?  :lmao:

1. I would have said "I am leaving and here's why."

How will they learn, unless you teach them?

The safe default is CNN--that offends everyone equally, it seems.

"Teach them" what? That you're a batshit crazy control freak who wets themselves if everyone isn't complying with their demands?

12. I walked out of a car repair shop that was blaring Limbaugh once.

I asked the guy to change the channel because it was very offensive and divisive, and he refused. So I "refused" to give them my business.

But here's the best part--a little old lady who was behind me in line followed me out the door, and said "I can't stand that asshole, either!"

We both took our business elsewhere!

Quote
Zoeisright (8,263 posts)

16. Me too.

I always speak up. If they won't change the channel, they don't get my money.

No one gives a shit about your little $1.98 worth of business, you self-important prick.

Quote
0rganism (16,988 posts)

3. I think it would be effective to let them know why you left

If they know that their zealotry is costing them money and possibly reputation, I think they'd be more likely to moderate their approach.

Fox News is #1 in cable news rankings. All the time. Zealotry would be putting some no-name dyke-o-saurus from PMSNBC on the tube instead.

29. Then they just turn it back after you leave.

Better to deprive them of your business altogether. Make it cost them to play that crap.

9. I have told them to change it now or I leave ...now. The 2 times I did that they changed it.

Both times they asked why. I called it a propaganda channel for morons. If ya don't speak up then you own it.

10. I ask to sit in the inner waiting room at my doctor's

because of the FOX tv. And I always say why. It makes me feel good. I once told them the reason my blood pressure was a little elevated was because of FOX news. The nurse laughed.

Here's a hint: When you say something like that and we nurses laugh, we aren't laughing with you, we're laughing at you, ****stick.

20. I told the woman in the bank (actually a credit union) we were thinking of transferring
our savings to that we were not going to patronize them because they were playing FAUX loudly in two places in their office.
Completely unnecessary to be playing any TV (most banks don't do this) but if it is required for some reason, a neutral program of some kind, preferably non-political, would be the way to go I would think. Anyway, after we told her she just gaped at us. Literally. She was completely floored and did not even answer. So we left, they lost our business, and she still probably has no clue what we were talking about . And yes, we were calm, polite, and offered a brief explanation of our objection to the channel. When we received an open mouth bug-eyed blank stare, I thought it best to cut our losses and leave.

On the other hand, one of our favorite restaurants ( a chain) started to blare FAUX in the bar, we wrote to the corporate offices, and the next time we visited it was on CNN. It's been on CNN every time since. I'm also not a fan of CNN, but you've got to pick your battles.

they supply the TV and provide the cable provider.

27. I know what you mean. I was in a waiting room today at the hospital and they had
this big tv on Fox. I tried to block it out because I was reading. I tuned it out as much as possible. I have been to doctors offices and have asked them to change the channel if I am the only person in the room. I tell them ok if you don't want to watch any other news channels then put it on a channel where we can watch anything but news. I only had one doctor that the doctor doesn't want the channel changed. I only went to him one time though. Never again.

They sure seem to spend a lot of time in waiting rooms.

Sounds like the doc had one of those business-tier ISP packages the local cable company sells.  I worked for a small company that used it... they got local broadcasts and a few basic cable channels for news and entertainment.

Poor DUmmies.  They don't know their asses from a hole in the ground.

If I was super rich......I'd buy every billboard in America and turn them into big screen TVs playing nothing but FOX NEWS.

You wouldn't need to go that far.  Just use pictures of Hannity and O'Reilly along with a few of Limbaugh with eyes that follow the people as they go by.

Seeing as how it is Conservatives who have money of their own (not OPM), it makes sense that businesses cater to them.

They could probably get away with putting on CNN without us throwing ourselves on the ground and kicking our feet in a tantrum.  We mostly shrug and say "so let's see what the idiots are doing today to try to destroy America."

Or we put our headsets on and listen to I Heart Radio...

They sure do like repetition over at the DUmp. Every week or so, they take out the Fox News bouncie out and dust it off and it's like they heard it for the first time.

Sounds like the optometrist was just getting rid of the medicaid patients and the governments low and late payments. Win-Win for the doc.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The only problem was I couldn't find anyone watching MSNBC.

The ironic thing I guess is that not ONCE, EVER have I seen MSNBC on any TV in any office.  You would think with the massive dummie population, they would want to see re-runs of Rachel or someone else while they get their molars filled, or there carbon producing global warming contributing transportation device fixed.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

DUmmies don't care about what is on TV in the doctor's waiting room as long as their office visit is free and paid for by the taxpayers.

I swear to God most of these fools go to the doctor daily. I see it all the time. I wish I had a TV where I work if it really kept them away.

We would have less loss prevention issues, less NSF checks, etc........

How I wish some of these bouncies were true. How I wish Faux Snooz were playing in some waiting room where I was sitting, and some courageous DUmmie would bravely march to the receptionist and demand the changing of the channel.

Man! That would be damn entertaining. Unfortunately, it's always fiction.

How unusual. Whenever I am in a waiting area and some program is on that I don't care to watch, I just grab something to read instead. Not sure how I can handle being so normal and reasonable, but I manage.

I cannot think of even one place up here that when a customer ask for a change of channel where either the bartender or server if the room is even a quarter full will not call the room to attention and ask everyone if they mind a channel change.  I have never had a problem from changing a news program to a NASCA race.

Doctors, ER or Dentists offices are full of people in pain or scared to death and it doesn't bother them one bit to watch Gilligan's Island or  the Spanish Language Channel.

Me thinks this is a control issue for people who spend less then an hour in a waiting room to demand everyone watch what they want to see, and feel they have the right to enforce it on others with no care if they like it or not.
