think (3,684 posts) Should Manning pay a fine instead of jail time?Last edited Tue Jul 30, 2013, 03:35 PM USA/ET - Edit history (5)11 votes, 3 passes | Time left: Unlimited This poll is ridiculous. No one should get off serious charges with just a fine 1 (9%) Manning will get what he deserves. 2 (18%) Halliburton got what it deserved. Paying a fine for covering up negligence that lead to 11 deaths just makes sense 0 (0%) The Carlyle Group got what they deserved. Bribing public officials with $13 million dollars isn\'t a big deal 0 (0%) J.P.Morgan got what it deserved. Banksters just can\'t help themselves. Its an addiction 0 (0%) Robert Lady is a hero and they should give him back his million dollar mansion in Italy. 0 (0%) Manning should serve no jail time nor pay any fine, 1 (9%) Manning should be able to pay a fine just like corporations 1 (9%) Manning should get off with a fine and SOMEBODY from those corporations should be sitting in solitary 3 (27%) Polls can be skewed to get the results one wants so quit creating pointless polls 3 (27%) 3 DU members did not wish to select any of the options provided.
Tierra_y_Libertad (37,494 posts) 3. The charges should be dismissed and he should be discharged with thanks for his service.
avebury (3,672 posts) 4. Manning should get no jail time and no fines. There are so many more corporations and people have have done worse things to this country that have skated away without any repurcusions for their actions. Until we start holding everyone accountable for their actions I have a hard time throwing Manning in prision. Talk about hypocricy.
MineralMan (56,075 posts) 5. Bogus poll.I won't play.
sabrina 1 (36,738 posts) 12. This kangaroo trial should not be allowed to happen in this country. Manning should get at leastthe man who oversaw the torture at Abu Ghraib go, Sanchez was awarded a Medal. He should be rewarded with the military's, most appropriate for the situation, medal as he took his military oath seriously, a very rare thing.

The military has a medal made of rope that goes around the neck?
As to Manning, put him in the cell next to Kaczynski. Allowed out for one hour every week. No human contact what so ever.
15 Trillion dollars. He can work it off at that little army instillation in Kansas.
It just struck me...what would be a fair fine? (Not that it would ever happen...)Anyway, $10m, $20m, $100m, $1b?? How would he pay for it? Hollywood libs, George Soros or Warren Buffet?
We could go Chinese style and fine him the cost of the bullet.
