Please stop calling 9/11 "the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history"
Someone on another thread referred to 9/11 as such, and while it's accurate it doesn't express the severity of that day.

According to http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/terrorism/wrjp255i.html... 9/11 is:

The deadliest terrorist strike in the United States--there are eight attacks on this list; the next-deadliest attack was Oklahoma City, which claimed 169 lives.

The deadliest terrorist strike worldwide. The next-deadliest attack on this list was a day of car-bomb terror in 1997--in two Iraqi cities. That day claimed 520 lives.

The attack producing the highest number of non-fatal injuries, at 8900. Taking second place in this category was the Tokyo Subway nerve gas attack.

Not only is it the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history, it's the worst terrorist attack the world has ever seen. And the Republicans were in charge when it happened.

5. It means that not only did Bush&the GOP **** up, they were the worst **** ups in **** up history
Either by accident or design; and by a wide margin.

http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/terrorism/wrjp255i.html

11 Sep 2001; WTC in NY, Pentagon in DC & a field in PA; fatalities: 2,993; injuries: 8,900

14 Aug 2007; car bombs in Al-Qataniyah and Al-Adnaniyah, Iraq; fatalities: 520; injuries: 1,500

20 Mar 1995; sarin gas in Tokyo; fatalities: 12; injuries: 5,511

19 Apr 1995; truck bombing in Oklahoma City; fatalities: 169; injuries: 675

Simply put - unless Republicans are in charge, the threat of terrorism to life, property & safety is very, very small.

2. uh, no, I don't think it can be characterized as the worst terrorist attack in
world history. In any case, it seems a minor point.

8. Um, the US attack on Iraq is the biggest terrorist attack. Millions have been killed and/or injured.
And the perps are free in the USA.
Stupid is strong in this one.  :mental:

9. Good point
Although you could put other such attacks and invasions on the list -- e.g., the German invasion of Russia during WWII -- and then the U.S. attack against Iraq wouldn't rank at the top.

Even in terms of percentage of the population, what the U.S. did to Iraq wouldn't be at the top of the list, although it would be up there.

In any case, you're certainly right that we need to see 9/11 in a wider perspective.

16. Yep, a terrorist act committed by oil bigwigs against an oil producer. Only,
this time the terrorists also included top government officials in their memebership. Oh, and they are also the same terrorists that orchestrated the attacks of 9/11. I still laff at the sight of the Sec Def's photo op:

Seems the 5 people already carrying the stretcher wasn't enough manpower to carry that person to an ambulance.

14. What about the smallpox infected blankets??
That was a terrorist attack, too... and our "Nation's history" goes way back, before Columbus "discovered" America...

9/11 is the deadliest terrorist attack in American history period. 3,000 is a very high death toll.

Why do the libs conveniently sidestep the fact that the bombing at the WTC was the 2nd bombing ? Also, the mastermind UBL was offerred to Clinnochio on multiple occasions. If Clinnochio had taken any of those opportunities, the 2nd WTC bombing would have had to be planned out of UBL's jail cell. That might have totally disrupted any further attempts. It did happen on Bush's watch, but that road was already well paved by Clinnochio.

There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I dunno.  I'd be willing to call the first attack a terrorist attack but the second one was more of what I'd call a cowardly sneak attack, a first strike on our soil in a war we didn't really understand and certainly didn't want.

An act of war sounds about right.  Of course, we all know the courage level required to strike at unarmed civilians.

It's not like AQ actually took the whole thing from concept to rubble in the eight months between Bush's inauguration and 9/11.  The plan was put into effect and pieces were moving long before Clintoon left office.
