Why the hell would he expect instant acceptance? He may have been with his partner for years but he's obviously not been around his family. My husband had to past muster with my family, too, especially my grandparents.
If one of my sisters, brothers or cousins had been with someone for 6 years and they'd made no attempt to get to know us, my family would be damned suspicious, too. And we certainly wouldn't feel obligated to put them in "family" photos, since he'd made no attempt to be a part of it.
While being gay may have something to do with it, had he bothered get to know them from the beginning they would've had 6 years prior to this get together to know and love him (whether they had a problem with their "lifestyle" or not). But no, it's always got to be a gay victim thing when it may have nothing to do with that. After all, they obviously accept his partner, gay or not.
