Old friends of ours
« on: July 25, 2013, 04:18:00 PM »
We saw and visited with a former neighbor yesterday. Jimmy lives in Spain and is a teacher. Now he teaches English in a college over there.

His mom still lives in the same place she's lived in for about 40 years, which is right next door to where we used to live. But they'll move her down to San Antonio, TX, to live with her daughter. We're invited to visit down there at any time.

Jimmy and his wife have retirement accounts in Euros. They will take all the money from them and use it to build a lavish home in Spain. He said that otherwise, if the Euro takes a bad dive or is eliminated completely, all they'd have is numbers in their bank books. The savings and retirements would be worthless. But they'd have their home.

He believes that it's just a matter of time when the Euro becomes worthless.

There are some very financially sound reasons that England has stayed away from converting to the Euro.

The Germans keep hoping their Government here will go back to the D-Mark...as to a lot of Americans like myself.  It would decrease my cost of living tremendously.

Centrally planned finances for a group of country's is never a good idea.  The reason Spain, Greece and Italy are all having trouble is because they don't have the freedom to adjust interest rates or set their own monetary policy outside what id dictated from Brussels.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

He also lives in a politically hot area of Spain (can't recall the name) that wants to secede from Spain and form its own country. He said the majority of those residents FAVOR doing that.
