(CNSNews.com) – To ensure that “every American is able to choose to live in a community they feel proud of,” HUD has published a new fair-housing regulation intended to give people access to better neighborhoods than the ones they currently live in.

The goal is to help communities understand “fair housing barriers” and “establish clear goals” for “improving integrated living patterns and overcoming historic patterns of segregation.”

“This proposed rule represents a 21st century approach to fair housing, a step forward to ensuring that every American is able to choose to live in a community they feel proud of – where they have a fair shot at reaching their full potential in life,” said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan.

“For the first time ever,” Donovan added, “HUD will provide data for every neighborhood in the country, detailing the access African American, Latino, Asian, and other communities have to local assets, including schools, jobs, transportation, and other important neighborhood resources that can play a role in helping people move into the middle class.”

Notice that whites are not mentioned.

He doesn't want to eliminate segregation; he wants to increase it!

That was what I thought when I heard about this hare-brained (Or ptarmigan-brained, take your pick) scheme.  kpete and he ilk are going to be trying desperately to find an angle to work on this one, if it ever really happens (The idea is that Federal money will be withheld from any community not meeting the yet-to-be-determined 'standards,' not forcible movement of anyone, however that plan steps directly on the toes of Congress, which has the exclusive power to authorize and appropriate those Federal funds).

Yeah....I got notice about it earlier today on the FB page our Board of Realty has.

Supposedly it's going to have an effect on how Realtors show houses. Reading it though, it seemed to me, that it's counter to the current Fair Housing Laws. Those laws that if we get caught breaking them, we can go from being reprimanded to losing our license, depending on circumstances.

I was contemplating going back to active selling....think I will just stick with my reports...
