His heartfelt words about race just now broke me open. If I had one wish it is for us to try to build on that, not by hating the people who will disparage what he just said (and he was incredibly acknowledging of the problems in the African American community) but by inviting and inviting and refusing to hate back.

It's the only way. He's trying mightily to lead in a way only he can. I'm touched and amazed.

This will go down in history.

Ohh it may make history alright, but not in a positive way. What he did was pretty much just amplify all the race baiting and hatred of whitey that Sharpton, Jackson and others have done for decades.

As a creepy ass cracker, I was offended as hell when the president got up on stage and basically said that whitey sucks and every problem in the world is due to us being the racists.

How about having a president with the balls to address the real problem. The problem with how black leaders are not interested in actually fixing the problem, but hell bent on keeping racism alive and well so they can line their own pockets.

When is the last time any of the black leaders have encouraged their youth to ignore the gangsta culture and do their school work?
When is the last time a black leader said if you are a street sweeper be the best street sweeper you can possibly be?
When is the last time a black leader said he wanted to be judged on his character and not the color of his skin?
If the black leadership really cared about their people they would be down in the communities and teaching young people how to make their lives better instead of going around constantly blaming the white man for every problem they have.

We can only fix this problem if the left will stop judging everyone based on their skin color.
If it was wrong to profile Trayvon, then why wasn't it wrong to profile Zimmerman? Yes Zimmerman was profiled, he had white skin and had an incident with someone who had black skin. He was immediately profiled as a racist by the media and our government.

What I heard was a racist man that blames everything on others and appears to really want some rioting that leads to dead people...preferably dead white people. Hell, George has nearly as much African ancestry as Obama does.

America has institutionalized that attitude, whether those who do it cop to that or not. No matter what Zimmerman's ethnic background is, he was acting in accordance with a perspective that makes his actions more acceptable than they should have been, according to law and many peoples' opinions.

This "discussion on race" is already out of hand and it's just getting started. Count me in as just simply being uninterested. I think I'll just continue to treat people as individuals and not worry about it. Besides, I've seen the discussions the libs want to have about race before and it's not worth hearing.

The dems are trying to fix the narrative so that the 2014 midterms are going to be "Zimmerman (GOP candidate) vs Trayvon (Dem candidate) across the board. They are going to use "Zimmerman" more than "Travyon" because they want to associate "Zimmerman" with the GOP, in particular with the Tea Party. In short, although the Trayvon riots tributes are supposedly about racial "healing", they are more a call to action to associate Zimmerman with the GOP.

Racial strife will NEVER disappear until the Democrat Party disappears. If it doesn't disappear, we will always have racial strife as despots NEED such strife to survive.

There are any number of hard core liberal media hacks like Eleanor Clift showering owebuma with unending high praise for his talk on race. I think they are lying to at least some degree, but some of it is their warped and depraved minds.

From what I've heard, the Dems are trying to keep the Zimmerman thing in the news precisely because it tends to occupy time in news broadcasts--time that might have to be spent reporting on such scandals such as the IRS targeting of conservative groups (to lurkers, 592 conservative groups to 6 liberal groups which received 'extra scrutiny,' nowhere near as much that the conservative groups did); Benghazi; the economy; the NSA; and so on.  Said scandals are supposedly showing up in internal polling for Dems in the South, to the extent that losses for Dems in the South could be catastrophic.  They saw what happened 40 years ago with Richard Nixon and they do not want to repeat that--but their day has indeed come.  Said scandals might not make much of a difference in the Northeast, but the Northeast ain't the whole country (even though a lot of Dems from the Northeast seem to think so).
