Oh boy - Why are there 12 jury member traditionally

I really upset the applecart at my house. I was having lunch with the family before my sister, brother-in-law and their two children leave. My father, while I'm busy making a sandwich says "Do you know why they have 12 jury members?" Not thinking anything of it, I said, "Oh why?" He said "Because of the 12 disciples of Jesus. I don't know why they have only 6 in Florida." I noted that Connecticut also had 6, and that in Muslim countries and Israel, they also have 12 jury members. He lost his ****ing mind and started screaming at me like I had just declared that fire was cold.

What is it with conservatives that facts freak them the **** out? How is it about Jesus when Muslim countries and Israel also have 12? You would have thought I was the anti-christ in the kitchen for refuting his "factoid".

I pointed out that he should be mad at whoever told him such bunk. He screamed "Nobody told me that!" I thought to myself, did you just make this shit up, and expect me to go along with it, or just what the hell minefield of a lack of logic did I just walk into?

Is there a rule that libs have to have a point ?
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Asks the loon who posts at a message board that allows neither conservatives (never) or facts (rarely).

The point is, Christians suck.

That was the whole purpose of this bouncy, nothing but an excuse to laugh at the people who believe in a "sky daddy".

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Yes, that became the point when the lib accidentally swerved into it.

The OP Aerows has been discussing this non-bouncy with everyone who commented.

And Grits DUmmy tosses in a bouncy of its own for good measure:

23. My Mama and I were discussing some Biblical point at the breakfast table.

It was minor and I can't remember what it was. I do remember what happened.
I said something that landed on one of her theological land mines. Boom!
She pushed everything off the table into my lap.

Sure.... :whatever:

The idea of settling disputes using a jury of 12 impartial witnesses is usually dated back to King Aethelred's Wantage code of 933, although some scholars point out that the English jury system that emerged in the 12th century was almost identical to the Islamic Lafif, which the Normans may have brought from Sicily.

Note also that Jacob had twelve sons who founded the 12 tribes of Israel.

20. Is that why there are 12 months in a year too?

Or 12 items in a dozen? or 12 years in the Chinese calendar rotation? or OPEC members? and on and on

I wouldn't pay too much attention to anything aerows writes- she's a fat lesbian with a daddy problem. I doubt he ever even said this, everybody knows SCOTUS has nine jurists and that it's not uncommon to have as few as three on a court.

Then again, he might have said it just to troll her because she's a loud anti-Christian bigot.

  • Democracy can survive anything except Democrats
12 in an important number to Jews, Christians and Muslims. There were the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 Apostles of Christ and the 12 princes born of Ishmael who is considered by Muslims to be their patriarch.

Now whether this has anything to do with a jury having 12 members I have no idea.

I never thought about so I decided to google it.

Here is what I found:

12 jurors part 1

12 jurors part 2

There is more. To lazy to post them. Google History of 12 jurors

That's very common on Skins's island; the primitives say something they allege themselves to mean, and something else that they really mean.

So they actually speak in code, while out of the other side of their mouth they accuse conservatives of speaking in code.
