As long as any gated community gets one cent of public money their roads and neighborhood should be open to the general public. Unless they completely fund ALL their own services like water and electricity and own and fund their own police and fire department their gates should be removed.

Gated communities should be illegal and gate removed.

What an idiot. First of all they do pay for their own water and electricity just like anyone else who pays their own bills. Secondly odds are pretty good that the builders built the roads and maintain them.

I have a better idea, if you are a wanna be gangsta stay out of gated communities in the first place.

Here's the deal. You build anything new you pay for getting the utilities to what you build plus lots of vig to the city/county/state gangsters. After that you pay for the usage with the vig to the city/county/state gangsters.

Then you pay for the streets with the vig to the city/county/state gangsters. Most times the vig to the city/county/state gangsters means building fire stations and schools and some streets that are not near you.

All along the vig to the city/county/state gangsters is extorted and then goes to those that enforce it and those that do nothing but breathe for a living.

I thought builders put in the roads as part of their construction of a new community.  Also, don't these gated communities only have one way in and out?   Why would a DUmmy want to drive around a bunch of cul de sac streets?

Hey, you dumbass, we pay local and state taxes just like you ****ing idiots, and, in all actuality, a helluva lot more, and we STILL wind up paying for the maintenance on roads, our street lights, and electricity, water, and other utilities. We pay for those as well! People in gated communities get less bang for their tax buck than you idiots. Same with people that send their kids to private schools. Do they get to forgo those school taxes? No.

Sounds fair enough to me - of course the residents will get a reduction on the taxes which they pay to provide the relevant stuff to everybody else...only fair after all.
