so i'm talking to a young Republican this afternoon

He is telling me about the heat in the non-union shop he works in and how it can be almost painful at times. I told him he probably really appreciates his breaks and lunch so he can get to the air conditioned lunch room to cool down. He told me they don't have air conditioned lunchrooms. I then suggested a fan which brought the response, no personal items may be plugged in, you cannot even plug in your cell phone to charge it. But his biggest gripe today was the fact that he gets tomorrow off (4th) but has to work Friday. I then suggested to him that when they negotiate their next contract they should ask for the day off. He gave me a snarky grin.
Ain't that just like a Republican? they would rather suffer in solitude then join together for the betterment of all.

I really think it's just about self-esteem. Our culture is "Me! Me! Me!" and not "We! Us!"

If you get somewhere thanks cooperating or teamwork, there's nothing about YOU that's special. That's nonsensical of course, but that is how they think; that's how many people think.

Yeah our culture is me me me, for example women who want to kill the unborn just because it is an inconvenience, the people who are demanding free college degrees, free health care, and free retirement programs that allow them to live in luxury for many years after they retire. This new DUmmy has it right, but not in the way he thinks.

Can't someone complain of an unsafe work environment? Then again, that person would get his ass fired for complaining.

You know DUmmies that is the difference between us and you, we will put up with conditions that are not the best in order to make a living, you fools think work is beneath your dignity and then you wonder why we typically have jobs and you can't find a job to save your ass.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I'm in a union shop.  No air conditioning but quite the opposite, a huge ass oven running at 325 degrees for most of the day.  However we are allowed to have fans blowing around the 90+ degree air.  Sometimes it's even hotter with the heat coming in through the open overhead doors that face the blacktopped parking lot.

It's really fun in the summer when we get a heavy downpour and we have to shut the doors just as the humidity hits 100%.

They would have more stuff if THE MAN weren't keeping them down.

Take out the union shop part and the oven, and we could work at the same place.  Don't you love that blacktop 'fresh air'?   :p

I'm guessing that tiredtoo saw a young man who had been sweating at work, because he actually works hard; possibly looking a little tired after a day's work but with the smile that comes from actually earning one's keep. The DUmmy was, of course, too scared to talk to him. That's if there's anything true about the story at all.

It's really nice when someone walks out of the air conditioned offices wearing a sweater.   The company did have the roof of the building recoated last year with a reflective white coating that is supposed to help keep temperatures down.
