Carmella needed some mad money.
A few years ago when we still had a few phone booths around some old drunk calling for a taxi down by the water front found an envelope with $30-40 K in it and brought it home.
When he sobered up and checked the envelope he went nuts. Paid all his bills, lent money to his friends and bought rounds for the house for a few days.
Unfortunately he told a "friend" about the windfall and when he refused to split the money his "friend" went to the police.
It became a mystery on why the drunk was arrested, the Police would give no details except the money had been claimed by people that could show they were the owners but requested they not be named.
Weird part is the drunk was charged with theft of the few thousands he gave away and sent to Jail for 24 months.
We of the area that enjoy a good conspiracy theory and have heard all our lives of smuggling and corruption on the water front had a lot of fun wondering who owned the money that the public was not to be informed of and what kind of Court Judge would put him away.
Norfork Va. A woman in public housing with 2 boys found a trash bag in their closet containing $150,000. The boys told her they had found the bag in the woods. The mother went to her Pastor to ask what she could do. He told her to turn it in as in one year if not claimed the money would be theirs.
She did so and a year later went to collect the money to be told the money had been STOLEN from the police evidence room.
What would I do if I find what I consider Ill Gotten Booty, First hire a lawyer, second sell my house,
third, try to figure out how to spend the cash without raising suspicions. Take money from sale of house and buy a good size RV, get a mail drop send my mail to family post marked some where in Australia.
