A history of the present King of America

The following is a most discomforting assessment of our current state of affairs from someone who knows all to well what his screed portends:
 
The history of the present King of Great Britain America is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
 
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
 
“President Obama has instructed the Justice Department to no longer defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, the legal prohibition on federal recognition of same-sex marriages.”
 
“A federal appeals court ruled Friday that President Barack Obama violated the Constitution in filling labor board vacancies, a decision that could reshape a long-standing practice by U.S. presidents to make recess appointments.”

 
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

"The U.S. government has escalated the volatile national debate over illegal immigration by suing Arizona to stop its enforcement law.”

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

“Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, blasts President Barack Obama in a statement for breaking the law by refusing to submit an annual budget. ‘President Obama is required by law to submit his budget request for Fiscal Year 2014. For the fourth time in five years, however, he will miss the statutory deadline,’ Ryan’s office explains.”
 
“President Barack Obama on Monday rejected any negotiations with Republicans over raising the nation’s borrowing limit, accusing his opponents of trying to extract a ransom for not ruining the U.S. economy in the latest fiscal fight.”

 
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

“On January 6, 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the agency’s proposed rule change which will allow illegal alien spouses and children to stay in this country while seeking legal residency status, rather than waiting for a green card back home.”

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
 
“President Barack Obama had a message for Congress Friday: his so-called ‘czars’ aren’t going anywhere.”
 
“IRS seeks 4,000 agents, $303 million for Obamacare.”
 
“Members of conservative and tea party-affiliated groups offered first-hand accounts of excessive scrutiny they faced from the Internal Revenue Service in response to applications for tax-exempt status, a process some argued was meant to intimidate government critics.”

 
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
 
“Senate set to approve controversial UN gun treaty.”
 
“During last week’s Cabinet confirmation hearings, leaders in both the U.S. Senate and the administration of newly elected President Barack Obama conveyed support for the treaty, known as the United Nations Law of the Sea Convention, suggesting an end to decades of dispute over U.S. accession.”

 
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
 
“20 Hidden Tax Hikes in Obamacare.”
 
“Obama to open talks with $1.6 trillion plan to raise taxes on corporations, wealthy.”


 
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
 
“We can’t wait for Congress to do its job, so where they won’t act, I will.”
 
“President Obama will announce Tuesday he is planning to sidestep Congress to implement a national plan to combat climate change that will include the first-ever federal regulations on carbon dioxide emitted by existing power plants, despite adamant opposition from Republicans and some energy producers.
 
“In a speech at Georgetown University Tuesday, Obama will announce he’s issuing a presidential memorandum to implement the regulations, meaning none of the steps involved in the plan will require congressional approval.”

 

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
 
Nor have we been wanting in attentions to our Brittish Republican and Democratic brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
 
A leader of this great Nation, as wise as those who fought for our independence once said:

 â€œFreedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

My friends I’m afraid that time is upon us. I hope I am wrong.

My Legion post holds our Independence Day observance at the Veteran's Memorial. I volunteered to read the Declaration of Independence.

I plan to emphasize the list of grievances in a way that makes it clear: I am not talking about George III.

Amazing how history can repeat itself that way...how you can link the grievences from the Colonists against King George III to the problems Americans face when dealing with the current Administration.

Dunno.  But as a descendent of Washington's bloodline, I have the boots. Might be interesting to see if they fit my feet.
