The Girl Scouts of the USA are struggling to deal with fiscal woes, falling membership rates,  a pension plan with a $347 million deficit, and tensions at headquarters.

They're selling off the summer camps.  Those cookies are being used to fund pensions.  Not to mention the Manhattan HQ office suite, and everything that involves (sky high salaries, etc.)

I was a scout and scout leader.  It's really sad what has happened to them.

A lot of Girl Scouts joined the American Heritage Girls and they now have 20k members.

In June 2009, the AHG formed a partnership with the Boy Scouts of America.[2] The memorandum of mutual support recognizes the common values and goals of both organizations and establishes a relationship, especially with the BSA co-ed Venturing membership division.[6] In May 2013, the AHG dissolved its relationship with the BSA in reaction to the BSA's new policy on gay youth.[7]

While it saddens me that scouting has changed so much (kids and I were girl scouts and I was a leader), I am very glad people are not supporting them any longer.

The new president of the GSA is just awful, and they've turned the entire organization into a left-wing fundraising operation rather than a scouting group. Who wants their little girl to hawk overpriced cookies all year just to pay some old lesbian's pension?
