There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Lil

That is not funny WHEN YOU GET A FROOT LOOP RANDOM DIAL. Who knows if the call is random or you are being stalked.

I believe for the only time in my life I was ever scared out of my wits was one of these calls.

Me with 4 kids with Hubby at sea for a few more months.    Got this call and I thought it was a joke, someone I knew having a bit of fun.

While I was trying to put a face to the voice the caller acted like he knew me, knew where I lived and the color of the car I drove. When I decided to get quirky with him asking about his sex life he became enraged and called me names I knew no anyone that knew me would ever, he became violent and threatened to beat me and the kids up.

I hung up and called the police, the young officer that came to take my complaint told me about what the city directory was, people came to the house and asked all kinds of questions about who lived there, how many kids and where we worked.   Sort of like census takers.    What I did not know was unlike the Federal Census I could just refuse to even tell them our name.

First time living in a city of size .    I learned that the city directory was printed out and ANYONE could look up a street and get an idea if the husband was in the Military.    3 of us military wives that lived on my street  got that b*steads calls and we were scared. Only one had her husband on shore leave, the rest of us slept with a gun under our pillow for months after that.

It is one heck of a job being a military wife ---single mother for half or a full year waiting for our husbands to come home.    Then there was the grape vine that got out news of a friend whose husband was gone found dead in her home.

For most of the military wives, our family's are far away, we need to set up a net work for our own protection every time we move.   For the young just married into this life style we did then and do now need some kind of course on the State Laws they move into, What to do in any emergency and most important a list of off base housing that allows big dogs.

The military guard shack's use to have a posting of off limits places to the military men, dangerous and a no go for them.   The family's that follow them seldom get to see the inside of a guard shack and have no idea as they drive about trying to acquaint themselves with the area if it is safe or not.

Yes there are the people that get their jollies scarring the shit out of lone woman,
then there are the perverts that got a neighbor of mine in Hawaii, She was a drop dead beautiful young woman living in off base housing.    A couple locals not military saw her at a gas station and saw the base sticker on her car.    They followed her home and watched her house for a day or so, when they saw no male around they broke in at night raped her and stole everything in sight.

The day after this happend I found myself and a dozen other woman at the door of the SPCA wanting to adopt a dog, a good size dog.

I think the theory of relativity just ceased to operate and the universe imploded.
