I see this for what it is: An effort to destroy the president. And they're succeeding

As can be evidenced by the numerous posts on a Democratic message board. Comparing Obama to NIXON now, of all people.

The next president will be a Republican thanks to the media finally getting one of its fake scandals to stick. They brought down Clinton the same way. Make no mistake, had Clinton not been demonized in his second term, Gore would've easily won and the country wouldn't have been subjected to the 8 years of the disaster [sic] that was George W. Bush and the evil [sic] that was Dick Cheney.

This was a non story from the get go. It should've gotten one, maybe two days of coverage. But they're seeing how the Democrats are once again shooting themselves in the foot, and they're running with it. Him being a black man only compounds it, as his approval ratings are already plummeting over this nonsense. At least Clinton had the benefit of being a good old southern boy.

Go ahead. Confirm my statements by denigrating Barack Obama over this nothing issue. Tell me how he's just like Bush or Nixon or whoever. Hell, I don't think anybody has called him Hitler just yet, except in Free Republic, at least. But why not? He's getting everything else in the book.

2. NO, it's the exposition of a corrupt government that WE thought would be reversed by electing Obama.

21. But you will never convince the Icon worshippers of that. They will live to the ends of their days certain that Obama was a great, great man, thwarted by others. If only we would all just BELIEVE!

the administration is choosing its own fate. We are on the sidelines simply watching this slow motion train wreck.

7. It's not a non story, and it's not an attempt to bring down Obama.

I am so sick of hearing this crap. Can you NOT understand that there are some of us here who do NOT like to be spied on, who actually believe in Democratic ideals?

And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with race, FFS.

ENOUGH. We worked for him, we sent money to him, we voted for him. And he has done many good things, but this is NOT one of them. And it is an egregious infringement upon our rights as human beings, and as Americans. We will not stand by and let him, or any other elected official get by with it, despite the initial after their name. This is OUR country and if we play partisan politics with our rights, then we only have ourselves to blame when we wake up in a fascist, totalitartian country.

9. Fatally flawed premise that this is a "nothing issue". The remainder falls apart as a result.

If you had any point to stand on, I'd ask for evidence of the Republican mastermind at work behind the scenes. But you don't, so we'll just stop right here.

12. If it's such a non-story why is the administration making CYA statements about it?

It's only a "nothing issue" to kneepadders and cult followers.

Well, there's still the kneepadders.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Hell must be getting pretty chilly, I'm with the DUmmys. Spying on every American citizen is wrong. You know who else is thinks spying on all American citizens is wrong? Senator 0bama.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

It probably happened when he got tossed under the same bus he has been using for years to distance himself from all those other pesky people that got in the way .
