Flying back from California, after my 50th HS reunion and some time spent with my 88 year old parents, whose health is failing, my wife and I were sitting in the gate area at LAX waiting for our flight.

A woman and her daughter, who could not have been older than 12, came up and sat across from us. The girl was wearing tight shorts, cut above her lower buttocks, and a low-cut tank top that showed cleavage. Her face was that of a 12 year old. We moved to other seats, on my prompting.

For the life of me, I cannot understand a mom being OK with that dress for a pubescent girl. I truly can't. What could she be thinking?

Wait a minute. His 50th High School Reunion? I just had my 35th last year in September and I was 53 at the time . He would have to be around 66 years old at the least. What is he doing looking at 12 year old kids.

Well, that may be rather unfair to RockBoy, it sounds to me like he found it just as appalling as most of us would.  I wouldn't be surprised if other DUmmies PM'd him asking for photos, of course.

If that observation makes the DUmmy a pedophile, then I must be one, too.

The way some middle school kids are allowed to dress is sad and appalling. 

I can't imagine what kind of addled, negligent, half-ass parents it must take to allow 12-15 year-old girls to dress in public like sluts, with "Juicy" written on their ass.

Sigh.

I'm the father of an 11-year-old girl. Of course, mom and I want her to dress and look like a girl, not a slut. She's "blooming," and is out of clothes that can be bought in the children's department. It's a lot of work--A LOT of work--to find appropriate clothes for her.

Her mother is very patient when it comes to shopping. Thank God. And she isn't fighting us, yet, thanks to that "divisive" Catholic school education which requires uniforms. That takes some of the pressure off.

I wouldn't say at all that he's a "pedophile" if anything he's right, it amazes me how stupid some Parents are in how they let their kids dress, but I grew up hearing "don't advertise something you're not giving away".

I'm with DAT on this one.  I don't think it turned ol' RockBoy on in the least.  The Heiress is headed towards 6, and because she also goes to a Catholic school that requires uniforms, hopefully she won't be wanting to wear as little as possible in the future.  My wife won't let her do that either.

I can see that it is hard to find the right clothes as I have a daughter that turned 18 last year myself. I have also seen 12-18 year old girls that look anything but that young either by using make up and or clothes or just because they looked older. Either way putting that out on DU in the way he did was wrong.

Thankfully, our oldest girl is an absolute conservative -almost to the point of being dowdy. She is against all vices, 'body art', and doesn't even want her ears pierced. I'm not so sure on the 2nd child - hopefully some of her big sister's prudishness rubs off on her.
