OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Starting in the 1970s, Washington state bridge inspectors made note of evidence that large
loads were clipping the Interstate 5 span that recently collapsed into the Skagit River.

By the middle of last year, an inspector identified eight different points on the bridge that had high-load damage,
including some portions in which components were deformed by the impact. Then, last fall, inspectors encountered
perhaps the worst damage yet: A tall vehicle traveling northbound had struck the overhead bridge structure, ripping
a 3-inch gash in the steel, causing three portions to distort and tearing off surrounding paint, according to images
and documents obtained by The Associated Press under public records law.

Even after that, state officials still didn't take precautions to prevent truckers from doing it again.

The AP found that Washington state's Department of Transportation regularly puts detailed warnings on its trucking
permits when routes are projected to encounter potentially problematic areas of low clearance. But despite the history
of issues on the Skagit River bridge, the state never added warnings to permits for that span.

Speaking of the Texas explosion.  Obama used them for a photo op then said "**** You Very Much" to the town of West.  FEMA denied them assistance.

I did not find any final conclusion on the Texas explosion but this is interesting;

  According to the charges filed against Reed, the McLennan County Sheriff's Office was called to a residence in Abbot, Texas, on Tuesday because of a possible destructive device, and arrived to find powders, metals and canisters filled with bomb-making materials.

An official with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said in an affidavit that officials found a metal pipe, canisters of fuses, a lighter, a digital scale, a plastic spoon, coils of metal and several pounds of chemicals at the residence and determined that they belonged to Reed. The resident of the home said that he had unknowingly accepted the materials from Reed on April 26.

Interesting only because most people already have those vaguely described items in their house.
Only exception might be "canisters" of fuses??

I think I have all of those things around my house and garage:

a metal pipe: Yes, I have metal pipes under my sink. One is for hot water, one is for cold water, and one carries away the water from the sink.

canisters of fuses: I have plenty of fuses for my house, garage, truck, and bike, but no canisters. Is it safe?

a lighter: I have a long-barreled assault lighter, to light my charcoal grill.    I also have several cigar lighters.

a digital scale: In my bathroom, accurate to 300 lb.

a plastic spoon: I found a box of 24 in my cupboard. 24!   

coils of metal: Four of them on my electric stove.

several pounds of chemicals: Laundry detergent, kosher salt, Oil-Dry, lawn fertilizer, a big bag of Epsom salts.... yes, I have "several pounds of chemicals".

It's only a matter of time before the NSA reads this post. I'll go pack a bag and wait for DHS.
