Rubio: ‘I’m done’ if immigration bill includes gay couple amendment

By Chris Moody, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – 22 hrs ago

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, a co-author and key proponent of the Senate immigration bill, said he will revoke his support if an amendment is added that allows gay Americans to petition for same-sex spouses living abroad to secure a green card.

"If this bill has in it something that gives gay couples immigration rights and so forth, it kills the bill. I'm done," Rubio said Thursday during an interview on the Andrea Tantaros Show. "I'm off it, and I've said that repeatedly. I don't think that's going to happen and it shouldn't happen. This is already a difficult enough issue as it is."

The amendment, introduced by Vermont Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy, would grant green cards to foreign partners of gay Americans. Leahy originally introduced the measure during the Senate Judiciary Committee markup of the bill, but he withdrew it under pressure from Republican lawmakers who said it would reduce the chance of the bill passing.

Leahy - it figures.

So far we have gone with the laws that allowed people to even visit the US of A.

There used to be morality clauses in the laws that in the 60's would not allow anyone as a known Gay to even visit.  Morality was high Elizabeth Taylor had problems as she had at that time been married 5 times.

One or two of the Beatles were denied a passport because the had been arrested for POT use.

He's just saying this because he's been under fire for blanket support for amnesty. His whole bill needs to be scraqpped, it's garbage.

Hi5. He was also exposed by Hanity for saying one thing to Spanish audiences and the opposite to English audiences.
He is a liar. I agree, he may be looking for an excuse to get out from under this.

I used to like this guy, BUT. I will never trust him again.

Yep when the establishment repukes push him on us in 2016 for president he is going to get trounced. He has sold his soul in order to get a handful of Hispanic votes and has thrown away any support his base would have given him. So it looks like democrats will have the white house until 2020 at a minimum.

The democrats may take the house back in 2014 if the repukes don't get off the amnesty train. I understand only 70 Republicans are making a stand against this.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

My campaign donations are going to other people in 2014.  Hopefully to a candidate that won't turn their back on the people that put them in office.  If Rubio ends up staying in the Senate he'll be another John McLame Dem ass kisser in short order.

Sorry, Marco, but your ass was "done" long before the Northeast liberal trash tried to shove more queers on us.
"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and then bid the geldings to be fruitful."

C.S. Lewis

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

This whole amnesty thing is a farce.  I get so tired of hearing them use the same 11/12 million figure.  That's the same number they used back when Bush tried doing amnesty.  Does anyone really believe that those numbers aren't more like 20 or 30 million by now?

The gay partner thing isn't going to add that many more to the numbers.  It's them being allowed to bring in five family members that's the problem.

This amnesty fiasco will more than likely bring in 100+ million new immigrants.  We don't have the jobs or public services to be able to handle those numbers.

But the illegals will vote democrat and a few of them will pay half their SS and the DUmmies will be able to leech off that for awhile, so to the DUmmies, it's all good.

There won't be enough jobs to support all those people or collect taxes from.  We can't even employ all the ones we have now.  I think there were 312 million people counted in the 2010 census. It's pure national suicide to add another 100 million.
