Here it comes again...the storms, I mean.

We had some pretty good ones last night, around 7 PM.  My in-laws got it good.  My daughter's school was delayed an hour this morning, because five of the big public school's schools were out, and my daughter's Catholic school was on the same trunk line.

It has been at least 4 hours since we had rain in the Des Moines metropolitan area.  I consider that a triumph.

I'm no fan of any thunderstorm especailly after the storm that hit back in 2011 in Mineola, Iowa it's not a big town at all and nothing was left untouched by the hail and winds.

Your looking up the main street of the town here towards the east.

This is the front porch of the house in the first picture in this post up the street. I talked to the lady who owed it and she has 8 inches of water in her basement. The entire north side of the house was battered by hail just like all the homes were.. Her fish she had in the back yard pond were killed by the hail and her porch railing was ruined as well.

Raining like crazy out there now, with thunder & lightning.

We got 2" in less than 1 hour yesterday and lost some of my wife's favorite lilac bush (actually a small tree).

We're supposed to get the cells that smacked OKC, and took TWC's Mike Bettes for a 200-yard flight in the StormChaser SUV, tomorrow afternoon.

That SUV was specifically built for that purpose, was low to the ground, and weighed at least 10,000 pounds.

Our storms last night had potential, but all of it ended up staying in Oklahoma.  Oklahoma City and 'burbs were hit again  :bawl: as was Tulsa.

We had the big hail about a week ago, took out 2 windshields and the back window of one car.  $1300 later, we're thinking about spending about that much on a carport.   :thatsright:
